We were at Chimney Rock Saturday, and there were two water patrol boats essentially checking every boat in sight. I guess other areas of the lake are not as much of a "target rich environment" as boaters in this area.
The last three times we have been there, there has been at least one partol boat there the entire time.

Better watch out if you are even thinking of having a beer and driving!!!

ok, i drove over the bridge this morning and saw a black and red helicopter hovering over a boat in the middle of the lake. it was only about 10ft off the water. then the boat took off.

do the marine police have a helicopter?

The folks from Sea Ray Boats are in the area this week taking photos for their boat brochures/literature. They were in our area late yesterday afternoon. The photographer was hanging out of the helicopter taking pictures of the boats/models on the lake. Was told they also were out @ 4 a.m. Saturday.

I've been watching the helicopter in my area for the last quarter hour. Obviously got some beautiful shots of the boat in the islands near Smith Mountain. Absolutely fantastic water and a gorgeous sunset.

Obviously the best times for filming are early morning and late afternoons. I guess these guys are real pros!

The pilot is sure a pro. They came by here in a red Sea Ray and a red helicopter about 6pm. Never have figured out how those guys can fly 30 ft off the water sideways at 40 MPH.
