Are there any old British car owners in the Lake Martin area.... to include Montgomery, etc?

I hope to be soon. 1967 RR Silver Shadow. The car probably will not be moved down until the Spring.

Then the question is there anyone in the area who works on them?

That's great Feb........I know of one other LM resident that has an Austin Healey ('63 I believe) so that we can now have a British Car Club! We'll help you look around for someone to work on it....I hear tell that Montgomery has someone to work on Healeys, not sure about RRs. But, if not, there will be a good network in the metro area of Atl to choose from. Is the Shadow running now? Are you keen to go to British car shows? If so there is a great one at Berry College near Rome Ga in May of each year.

The British never made a decent automible ,cars but not automibles , just over priced. And there is a differance between a car and a automible.

It is a driver. The odometer shows less than 31,000 miles, but I can not attest whether it is the original milage or if the odometer has rollled over.

We acquired it from a relative's estate, and the car had set for years in his garage. I had the car completely serviced, brakes done and new tires mounted. I am not sure whether to attempt driving it down or have it transported.

It is not a spectacular car in my oprinion and does not have much eye appeal except for the front grill, beautiful wood on the interior and the flying lady hood ornament. Otherwise, it looks like an old Chevy Impala to me.

Knowing myself, I would probably join a club. LOL

Like JIM stated, I am suspect of any British Car's reliability. At the same time I have owned a couple of Corvettes, and they certainly were a joy but a real pain in the reliability category.

I prefer my reliable old Ford F-150. It even rides better than the Rolls.

Feb, I have to congradulate you being the owner of a prestigious car stating the reliability of the car. The worst car that I ever owed was a 1963 Corvette split window coupe , this car was a nightmare. Now the best car that I ever owned ,and still got it is a 1991 Maxima. The Japs took American tecknoligy and fined tuned it. The American cars produced in the 80`s were a piece of crap. By the way, have the RR shipped.

What kind of classic car do you have rude evin? Many, many years ago, I had a college room mate who had a Healey 3000 series. Fun car but once again there were the dependability issues. So, we used to drive my college car a Fiat 600 most of the time. With a dollars worth of gas, the 29 HP Fiat could cruise all week.

It did not take long to figure out why all the guys with the Shelby 350s, GTOs, and Chevelle 396 SSs got all the girls.

Something a lot of people do not know is the GM 396 c.i. was really a 400 c.i.

What some really do not know is the Fiat 600 was actually 32 HP and not 29 HP. LOL

Sorry, I went off the reservation there for a while.........I've got the '63 Austin Healey Mark II 3000, that was the first year for the roll up windows. It is a good driver also.........and it still is a realibility issue!!!! But, can be a lot of fun, and always gets a good conversation going at the gas pumps. Also had a '59 MGA way back in college and enjoyed that 4 cylinder especially when the VWs and my MGA were the only thing that get around campus when we had a big snow. The longest trip I been on so far without any trouble has been to travel the Natches Trace from Tenn down to Miss and back to Atlanta. Get that Shadow down here and let's cruise before the water comes back up.

Sounds like a plan. I think my ol room mate's 3000 was of abut that vintage, I do remember it was British racing green. It was a real blast to ride in.

He was smart and never let me drive it.
