I know this has been discussed on numerous occasions, but I am wondering about the DISH satellite system. I am near Walnut Hill and I was wondering if someone around there has this and if you are satisfied with the reception. Do you get the local channels?
Is dealing with the company easy? Customer service? Also has anyone tried the antennae that I saw advertised on the lakemartinelectric.com site?

I've had cable, Direct TV, and Dish. Dish is my favorite. Good customer service, good price. I've been with them for about 4 years. If you know someone that is already a dish customer, they can give you a friend finder card that will be good for you and them for better discounts. Reception is only a matter of the trees on your lot.....you need a clear shot at the satellite.

in Dadeville. They are independent and rep both Direct TV and Dish Network. They relieved me of my Charter nightmare a couple of years ago. You get the same deals as if you went direct yet, you get local service from them, professional installation, they actually answer the phone to answer any follow-up questions and they actualy showed up on time, 1st time for my installation. I have Dish and local channels, reception is great and I can count on 1 hand how many times reception has gone out and, even when it did, it was for less than 15 minutes. They say Dish is most popular arond here because you get local channels. I know "DirtDiva" and several others on the forum have used them. Great folks!

I agree that Cablebusters are good folks, but they are not the best option if you wish "hibernate" your system for part of the year, or if you don't want a long contract. They get paid by for hooking you up with a system with an extended contract and they do not provide the option of paying a modest installation fee so you can shut the system off when you are not there..... or switch without penalty to another company if you decide it's not for you. Also, If you have a friends and family card, make sure you tell them the number AS you schedule the appointment or you will be out of luck there too.

Cablebusters may be right for you if your system will be on full time and you are willing to commit for two years. If not, go directly with the provider. The local installers that Dish uses are also very good.

When I first decided to swich from Charter, I tried the direct route. After 2 no-shows from Dish and 1 no-show from Direct, I found out about CableBusters and have had no problems since. Although, you do have a point about extended contracts, that wasn't an issue with me as someone is out our house most of the time.

I used Dish (directly) before I knew about Cablebusters and had a great experience with the local installers (Eclectic area). My parents used Cablebusters (after I suggested them from forum discussions) and there were misunderstandings about the contract and the friends and family discount that caused issues. However, they were prompt and did a nice installation. I guess there can always be problems, but I love Dish and highly recommend it.

Had DISH for about 7 years at LM. Montgomery local channels. Installed via DISH direct. Although, when I added Local channels, a larger antenna was required to capture all 3 satellites. And it cannot be roof mounted, must be a pole mount in ground. Guy worked all day long for that $90 installation fee.
Oh, and when those July t-storms come rolling in from the West, I sometimes lose the signal for maybe 3 or 4 minutes.

We are located at MM81 on Hwy 280 just West of McDonalds. We provide Dish and Directv. We also have "purchase" options where you do not have a contract. $240.00 pre-pays your 1st month and buys the equipment for 1 or 2 rooms. GOOD NEWS . free HD for life starting June 3, 2010. If you want a 2 year contract, everything is free. 877-825-9939 Sandra Caputo, Cable Busters
