The NSA
claims access to 75% of the internet. This must be the amount of it that they CAN
data mine. Those huge awesome computers play mix-n-match and connect-the-dots…
grinding away on which IP address is contacting which IP address. The data passes
through gates and wickets. Some relationships and frequencies attract the
machine’s attention. These addresses are
funneled to a new series of deeper mining… key words… key places… key routing…
key suspects. If these (and how many other levels?) are productive, the actual
communications are forwarded to human analysts for (probable cause) scrutiny.
The NSA only has time to scrutinize approximately 0.00004% of traffic (that’s
4/1,000,000)… and your sleazy emails don’t interest them. No matter how much
porn you look at… download… they don’t have time for you. No matter how many
times you engage in Tea Party language …or rant about the death of our nation…
or disparage the Pretender-in-Chief… the NSA does not have time to fool with
you. It’s not likely they would notice a
drug deal or a bank robbery going down. That’s NOT what NSA (and their world
partners) is(are) are seeking to discover.
Let me
ask you, have YOU ever been interviewed by the media? I’ll bet you found it amazing
what THEY heard you say and how THEY presented it. NSA has NO chance, in this yellow journalism
environment, of ever getting its explanation accurately presented. To add to
NSA’s burden, they have to calm the public without giving away the farm.
Worry
about something else… the ObamaCare data hub comes immediately to mind.

We both seem to agree that journalism is the problem. The truth can be swayed by spin, rumor, bad information, disinformation, and outright lies.
It seems that our opinions - what we believe to be true - are formed from journalism.
What if the source of fact has an agenda and journalism itself has an agenda? What if the agenda ain't very American apple pie and might piss off Jesus?
So what we believe about 911, Benghazi, Seal team 6, Vietnam, Afganistan, Boston bombing, et all is what we are told to believe. Most people will defend their beliefs passionately irregardless of them making any sense.
So is the gubment the winning team to cheer, or is the gubment gassing children in the middle east to further its agenda?
The URL includes a hacked email from a defense contractor. How would we know what to consider to believe without this Bradley Manning type of info?

“So is the gubment the winning
team to cheer, or is the gubment gassing children in the middle east to further
its agenda?”
I’m confused about your position. I would recommend against cheering
for the government in favor of cheering for our Republic (and its founding
document). The only “gubment
gassing children in the middle east” is accomplished using chemical weapons (AKA
WMD) removed from Iraq prior to its being appropriately conquered by the
Coalition.
“The URL includes a hacked email
from a defense contractor. How would we
know what to consider to believe without this Bradley Manning type of info?”
“Chelsea”
Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden are the types who would spit on a Burger to
punish their employer (and/or customer).
We are
learning that NSA was partnering with other national intelligence agencies to
enhance global coverage and mutual defense against terrorism. (I would not be
surprised to see Russian agencies involved.)
So the whole accusation(s) against NSA goes appropriately to “motive.”
Where, in this whole “spying on Americans” falderal, do you see our intelligence
agencies even interested in any of our own personal sordid communications?
Under
ObamaCare, HHS in cooperation with the IRS, Social Security, Medicare et al, is operating a “Data Hub” which
will be manned by un-vetted, low education, “navigators.” These navigators will
search the database on behalf of “qualified clients” to share information which
“improves benefits” to citizens.
YOUR
medical records, financial information, and personal data ARE ALREADY being
collected in this yet to be secured data base. Ask your doctor next time you
see him or her. What do you think the IRS is doing with your info? Why should
the Census be interested in your race and income?
Will
you have ANY control over who gets your personal information? You should have
less faith in the motive and security of the HHS Data Hub than you do in
Facebook or Gmail or Google. How difficult will it be for hackers to gain
access to a system operated by low income-low information-unknown employees
working with a system created by a government contractor who had no experience
with such a data system.
- - - -
-
NSA is
following a mandate to secure our nation while protecting our constitutional
rights as best they can without exposing their methods to our enemies. Can you
say that for the ObamaCare Data Hub. Which of these two activities is getting a
“pass” by the media?
Sleep
well my friend. We will ALL pay the price for smugness.

“Chelsea” Manning and Edward Snowden, would both be qualified to be "navigators" for the HHS-ObamaCare Data Hub.
Just
wait until one of those “navigators” gets angry at his (or her) employer.

Yes cheer for the republic.
Cheer for the presidency but not the president likewise.
The Iraq chemical weapon precursors came from Texas.

These guys took oaths. Secret and constitution. The smell got so bad that constitution trumped secret. Their lives are screwed now. A sacrifice worthy of Jesus. They are heroes.

You and I are the terrorists. Read the definition.

I agree that IRS TSA type morons with guns handling our data is a problem.
It's a done deal. Data is being moved and morons are being hired under a federal hiring freeze under a frozen debt limit under an organization that actively condemns Tea Party speech. Wasn't Learner supposed to run this section of the IRS?
Just the tip of the iceberg.

Trading freedom for security gets you neither. There are no terrorists to fight. "Terrorists" convince you to trade. The media convinces you terrorists are under your bed.

I find your writing very difficult to follow. I am still not sure of your position. I think I agree with you, in part.
Perhaps you could explain how you believe we SHOULD be fighting international terrorism... instead of how we shouldn't.

...you know what you mean by your words (metaphor, maybe).
I witnessed terrorism in Iraq. I did not imagine the indiscriminate carnage. I do not want another demonstration of it ANYWHERE... especially here in my country.
There is a dichotomy between my experiences (and beliefs) and yours. I therefore don't understand the disconnect in our posts.
Let's call it a draw.

I too have trouble following shortbus' postings, but it seems he/she is saying our government is inherently evil. While there may be evil people in our government I know and have known many people working in government, to include the intelligence community, and strongly disagree that our government itself is evil.
Shortbus also comes across ac a conspiracy theorist. While we owe it to ourselve to engage in responsible inquiry, many conspiracy theorists see everything as a conspiracy, in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Specifically, the declassified files
expose the deeply nefarious relationship between the Reagan-led United
States government and Iraq’s Saddam Hussein. And just as Obama decries
the chemical attacks within Syria that were actually launched by his administration as a pretext to military action, it is now revealed that Reagan played the same card back in 1988.

It is true Saddam Hussein used chemicals weapons. The Reagan
administration and the U.S. Department Commerce made sure Iraq received
all the biological and chemical weapons it required. Phillips Petroleum,
Unilever, Alcolac, Allied Signal, the American Type Culture Collection,
and Teledyne sold the materials with the blessing of the United States
government. I wrote about this
in late 2002 as the Bush administration ran its Iraq weapons of mass
destruction scam as a pretext to invade the country, an endeavor that
eventually killed more than a million Iraqis (piled atop more than a
million previously killed under sanctions) and that ultimately resulted
in the execution of the CIA dupe Saddam Hussein.
Now we learn that the CIA helped Saddam Hussein attack Iran with chemical weapons
in the 1980s during the Iran-Iraq war. 20,000 Iranian troops were
killed by mustard gas and nerve agents including sarin and 100,000 were
wounded.
