Just an observation. The lake level has risen ONE FOOT in the past five days with about 1 1/2" to 2" of rain in that period. Pray for rain.

Okay, maybe a stupid observation here, but I am seeing that it has risen a foot in the last six days... of course I would like to see more but as long as it is gaining then I will not complain for now.

I cant imagine getting anymore rain than what has fallen here in Bham this year. Its raining very good every couple of days and very hard at times. I assume the lake is getting as much since its not far away. Based on Jan. and February I would definitely say we are leaving the drought pattern from last year.

Believe it or not, Birmingham has gotten significantly more rain than the Lake Martin area---and what falls in B'ham doesn't flow toward the Lake.

Could be up another 2 feet by this time next week given the sizable front on the way and encouraging releases from the Harris project. Ground water table is recharging nicely and base flows in trib streams throughout the Martin watershed are grow'in. Rain dances are work'in.

In Atlanta last week I heard on the radio that they were still only at about 1/2 of 'normal' rainfall for January. Normal, they said, is nearly 5" , but they had only gotten a little over 2.5". It seemed wrong to me, but it is not my job to keep such records. I wondered at the time how Dadeville and Alex City would hold up to the same comparisons.

Since the Harris pool level is above their 'normal' rule curve and approaching the 2 ft variance increase requested by APCo, their turbine operations are picking up. This morning they cranked up 1 turbine at 5AM, 3 turbines at 6 AM and 2 at 8AM. This appears to me that resulting releases are get'in back to more normal for this time of year.

Arnold is correct that Harris has begun providing more releases.
However, APCo has a problem with their phone info line. Harris only has 2 units!
I have sent them e-mails regarding the problem, also the system will report , for example, 475.01 feet as 475.1 feet; obviously a big problem. Any lake level that ends in .01-.09 gets reported as .1-.9. I sent them e-mails about this also but have not gotten a response.
For the time being your best source of accurate info is from their new enhanced website.
We need rain!! How is that for stating the obvious.

Thank you for your insight. Harris has only two turbine units. However, if you look at the 'schedule' for this week, APCo plans for 3 pulses from at least one unit each day. This is encouraging.
