Read it, including the amendments (both proposed, and accepted) more than once.

I think it's a good start. I also think that, if enough people take it to heart, that it can be a good finish, as well. But if some of the "revenge" posters are serious, then I think it's just the beginning.

I PREFER the former; I EXPECT the latter.

This Bill is WRONG!!!!! Three issues in this bill. SAFETY, WATER PURITY, OVERCROWDING. Safety should be addressed by setting speed limits (operational laws) and enforce them, Water purity by laws (if you pump waste into the water then make the penality severe, enforce it, Overcrowding, you should be a PRIMARY resident of this state to use the waterways. Three simply ways to solve the problem. I know of NOBODY that is apposed to better Safety, water purity or controlling over crowding. But, this is a financial hardship on many folks. The bill is controlled by GREED. The bill is WRONG.

Stop cursing the darkness. We all know who the non-supporters are. We also understand why you have taken your position. The votes that matter most have already been tallied. In the house it passed 67 to 14. In the senate it passed 25 to 7. Alabama Power supports it. Russell Lands supports it. It is most likely supported by 98% of Lake Martin's stakeholders. We all agree that the process was flawed but that is often the case when making laws.

Move along boys. Nothing to see here.

You just eliminated me. I am not a primary resident of Alabama so, I can't use your waterways. That makes about as much sense as saying since you are an Alabamian, you cannot use Georgia roadways or any other states roadways.

See you are wrong in one aspect, the most important vote has not been even cast yet.... that is the one of the Governors...

No, I didn't forget that. I just didn't mention it because it is intuitively obvious that with all of the strong support Governor Riley will support the intent of the bill. He may not sign this one. But it is inevitable. I'm on record as saying that if it doesn't happen this year, an election year, it will happen next year.

All is not lost. You can depend on the Easter Bunny to make his or her visit to your houses on Sunday morning.

Have a great Easter weekend, friends.

lamont, Great Post!!!! This is also my point. Just because some people may be abusing the lake, noise, speed, wakes etc. , we should just ban all big fast boats. Makes no sence does it!!!!!

Yeah, that's the ticket. Recruit Georgians to fill your schools and supply you with BIG TIME athletes, but ban us from the waterways! Sign me up!! ; )

(I enjoy stirring the pot every once in a while, be easy on me!)

IT is a good start at solving a real problem. I hope it gets fine tuned in later years, but I support the effort--as does the great majority in both houses of the Legislature. Get over it!

This one had me rather confused for a few minutes. I had to go back and read though the thread to see where the restriciton on Non-Residents not using Alabama Water Ways was involved. I t was simply another Chicken Little "The Sky in Falling" paranoia

I will take this opportunity to commend the Great State of Alabama on it's picture taking ability. I have my Alabama Non-Resident Boater's permitt in my wallet and next to my Virginia State Drivers License. In just about every State I was pulled over in last year (9 to be exact) law enforcment officials have noticed both license while I was cuffed, and they looked throught my wallet. They have all made the same statement; Your Alabama License has a much better picture of you than the VIrginia License. I have looked closely at both and have to agree. I think it maybe because Alabama removed he bars in their picture of my mug shot.

They call the bill "greedy," and yet here they are, proposing something that is far more restrictive.

Do you think there will be any outcry, any denouncements from the "other side," calling out one of their own for being greedy and restrictive?

Me neither.

Now I can't use my beloved water of Lake Martin, I can't swim in the gulf. What is next? Am I confined to the sewage- filled waters of Lake Lanier or the shallow, muddy waters of Lake Oconee? Might as well sell my place at Lake Martin as it is useless without permission to use the waters. Searay, you want to buy it?

Would love to buy your place but, won't be worth much to me when all boats and PWC's are banned. Guess i will stay in the City with the smog, 24 hour noise and the crime. Life is Great!!!

Since you love the inner city (and it does have its excitement), I would urge you to read "Clint's Rules of Engagement" I posted above on the Forum. Might just bring new meaning to "City Lights".

It does not matter anyway; since everthing I am reading lately on the Forum says "The Sky is Falling" but will only strike Alabama. Too bad since I was hoping both our major colleges would have great football teams this year. I am still waiting for an epert analysis of how the waters of our beloved State will be filled with alligators, crocodiles, great white sharks, piranha crappie, anaconda moccassins, and man eating snapping turtles. (Some on this list are hybrids specifically paid for by Developers strickly for entertainment value) Once stocking has been completed, all water sports to include water sking, tubing and PWC riding will be highly touted and encouraged.

I have a solution. All of you can illegally cross over into Mexico. I await the mass exodus that is being threatened on the Forum. I must alert you with war clouds gathering over Iran, gasoline may soon be $24.00 a gallon. Better get those Hummers with the heavy duty towing packages gassed up and rolling. As a departing gesture please top your towing vehicles (may have to toat gas to wheeled vehicles from marina pumps)and boats up at the local marinnas and say goodbye to your old friends that will miss you.
