Do any of you have contacts with TV or newspaper reporters, managers, etc., in Montgomery and Birmingham that may be interested in doing a story on Lake Martin Pollution? We'll follow any lead you can offer, feel free to email me through the forum.

Chris Montana from Fox 6 news in B'ham did a TV piece last June on Chimney Rock, how much fun it is, etc. and may be interested in doing a follow up on the ugly side of Lake Martin. (This was done pre-accident).He interviewed my daughter at the Rock and said if we had any other story ideas to contact him via their web site. Hope this helps.

Sally Pitts with WSFA in Montgomery is a good friend of mine. I'll ask if they would be interested and if so I'll send you her contact information.

If you are successful in having some news agencies come down to cover the story, which I would think you would be as Lake Martin is the "Crown Jewel of the South".

I would suggest having a representative of Lake Watch interviewed to provide substantive evidence to support the story. As an authoritative agency will add A LOT of credibility to the story and hopefully even further turn up the pressure on Dadeville.

Also, it would be great to see f the news agencies would agree to periodically come back to cover the story in terms of checking on Dadeville's progress every 6 months or so..

Also you might want to bring to the attention of the news agencies Dadeville is looking at allow an Ethanol Plant to be built and right now the sewage system cannot even handle the current load, so what is the city going to do the ensure the sewage system can handle the additional capacity requirements from the Ethanol plant.

Just some thoughts for you.

Here is a good start to see what the problem is. The City of Dadeville was cited on 6 April 07. Here is the link to the State site where you can find more information. Basically they have 365 days to repair the problem.

I used to be an Army Public Affairs Officer and I am considering writing a story. I know that the Lake magazine accepts stories so I guess I will keep digging.

Thanks Mav... Absolutely, the Lake Watch people will be at the front of this effort. They have the facts, the history, and the spokesmen. BTW, they were the driving force behind the improvements to the Sugar Creek (Alex City) treatment plant.

We need the public hearing on the Dadeville treatment plant--send those emails and letters to ADEM.
