My husband has been on the lake for 38 years.  Whenever he gets lake water in his eyes, he develops watery, itchy eyes, sneezes and generally fills rough.  He has to wear goggles to go swimming.  He has no other allergies and never experiences this unless he gets the water into his eyes.  Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how do you handle it? Or do you have an idea of what might be in the water that he is allergic to?  Please don't say to stay out of the water 'cause that won't happen!  He loves the lake too much for that.

There just are some people who are allergic to Lake Martin.  I know womeone who lives near Lanier and have no problems, yet are just as you describe here on Lake Martin.  No telling what or why that is.  He just takes allegery pills to help somewhat for the few times he will come here.

I have had that several times through out the years, where I go swimming and before the day is out I have the signs of a major sinus infection and then the next day its full bore. Seems to happen to me if I get water up my nose so I try to avoid that.

My youngest son gets little red bumps on his skin (a rash of sorts) when he swims in the lake. This is not restricted to LM and happens when he gets in any natural body of water including the ocean.....it doesn't happen in chlorinated pools. Allergests and dermatologists haven't been able to nail down an exact reason it happens.

What we have here is an allergic reaction to the pine pollen that is in the water , I know - I was diagnosed in '92. I have tried all kinds of plugs, pills and other remedys with little sucsess.I just deal with it ! I stopped jumping off the rock years ago and limit my splashing activitiesa.

Saturday I had the worst reaction I can remember from swimming in the lake.  I usually don't have a bad reaction, but I was really stopped up when I got home, and my nose is still running today.  I hope that doesn't become the norm this year.
