I do not recall where I had heard that there is/was an island upon the lake which, I believe, is/was called Grave Island. It supposedly still has some graves with the headstone upon it. Is this true? Can Someone post the exact GPS coordinates of this island? Doing a little investigative research here.

Thanks

Far as I know, there are some headstones there. Used to be some concrete bags around the island to protect it.

It is Graveyard Island and is shown on most lake maps. And yes there are still graves there with markers. The concrete bags were replaced years ago with rip rap. As someone else pointed out, approach with EXTREME caution. It used to be several times larger and there is some VERY SHALLOW water on the downstream side. I know there is a safe appraoch on the right as you go into the bay. I was just there last year. On the island I mean. I go by it all the time.

We did a story on Graveyard Island a couple of years back.
Maybe this will help give you a little more insight into the island!
Enjoy your exploration!

Information was helpful, and all boating warnings duly noted. Hope all have a good Spring/Summer.

if you plan to trek onto the island I HIGHLY recommend long pants, jeans would be bettter. It is quite a briar patch. So much so that I cut my last trip very short, not even cheking out the whole island, but I had seen it all before and was just killing time that day and decided not to fight the briars.
