Hi all,

          I'm new here. My family and I have started a new tradition of taking a vacation each year to a nice scenic lake for 4-5 days. Last year we went to Lewis Smith Lake and everyone enjoyed it pretty well. I personally was less than impressed with the fishing there, but the scenery made up for it. This year I wanted to go somewhere equally as pretty and actually catch some fish, so I came across Lake Martin and it seems to fit. We will be travelling from Columbus, MS. This will be our first time visiting this lake, and we would like to come in July of this year.

          Although everything seems to be on par with what we want, I have searched and searched for a rental property that will accomodate our family. There will be 20 people total, 8 adults (4 married couples) and all of our children (12 total). Most of the properties I have come across have a maximum occupancy of 8. Some have a max of 14. There was only 2 which would accomodate 20 people, but they were way too expensive. We would like to keep the price range around $450 per night. The children are all between the ages of 4 and 13 years old. The place we stayed in at Smith Lake was a 4 bedroom and we brought air mattresses for the kids. We are very respectful of other people's property and treat it better than our own. If any of you fine folks have any leads on a place that would allow us all to stay, I'd be very greatful! Have you checked VRBO?  Lake Martin is located in Dadeville, Jacksons Gap, Eclectic, Alexander City, and Tallassee.

Thanks for the replies! I have tried VRBO, and also the link at the top of this site. Everything I have found is 14 people or less. I didn't know if most of those were including children or not. Most of them say that if the max occupancy is exceeded, that the deposit will be kept. I do not want to break any rules and I understand why people don't want to rent to a lot of people like that. We definately are not the party type. My wife and I are actually the youngest adults that will be staying, and we are 30.

Waterview, could I possibly get your contact info to get some information about your place?

We would really like to come to Lake Martin, but if we can't find a place to stay, we will have to go to Smith Lake again. I am an avid fisherman and a week on a lake without catching a fish is pretty much like torture for me. Thank you all again for the input! I really appreciate it!

Look at rentals on this site in Eclectic  Al there is one that sleeps 25 and has a pool

I saw the one in Eclectic. It has a minimum 7 night reservation between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and would cost $2999. That is a little out of our budget. Our tentative dates are either July 7-11, or July 21-25. Thanks though!

Look under rentals on this site. Place on Bayou Road or called Bayou something that would accomodate you guys as well. Never have stayed there though.

i know the place....big house. Also near boat launch.

pretty good crappie fishing in there...great area for recreation.
