Has anyone purchased the Garmin Inland Lakes (Southeast) map for their GPS unit? Just wondering if its much more accurate than the standard preloaded map.

Yes I did and it is worth the money. More accurate and a lot more detail. At night I can take once quick glance to make sure I'm still in the main channel of the lake or the main channel of backwater/creek.

According to the Garmin site the models below... However I wonder about the nüvi and StreePilot models as they are primarily for automobiles. It may be good to consult with Garmin or a dealer with experience before purchasing. I'd think any of the Chart Plotters would be compatible for sure.

Anyone have experience with the Garmin 431s.  It has the inland lake maps built in, but I haven't found anyone on Lake martin that has used one.

That's what I was wondering. Can you use the cheaper car models for lake navigation. I just want to run at night without running aground.

If you are interested in the maps for fishing instead of just navigation, you may want to take a look at the Inland Lakes Vision product which has underwater depth features and more detail including visible satellite overlays. If all you care about is Lake Martin (or the southeast), then you can get by cheaper with that because you purchase by U.S. region instead of the entire U.S.

I have no personal experience with either of these products on a GPS device. I just know much of what is available from GPS companies from a software and data perspective.

I plan to purchase the Garmin Nuvi 500 and add the Inland Lake maps between now and October.  Can offer an update then if anyone interested.

I have a Garmin Inland Lakes Vision card that I do not use anymore. I bought it in 2008. Let me know if anyone wants it cheap. email me at ralekna@bellsouth.net I was told by Garmin that you cannot use lake cards on units built for highways....you must have a Garmin marine GPS unit.
