New here but wanted to check in. We recently bought a house -- life long dream come true-- on Beautiful Lake Martin. We plan to be full time in 10 years when we retire. As it is now, we kick and scream all the way back to Acworth, GA where we work; however, we LIVE on Lake Martin. Love everything about it-- including the people. Best place on Earth. Look forward to meeting many of you in the future.

Welcome to the lake and forum.

We bought 10 yrs ago after long search for lake property, we love our location and our neighbors.
We drive it every weekend from Marietta for most of the year.

We use to boat on Ga lakes but tried on everything turning orange.
This lake doesn't compare to the lakes around Atlanta and really is only crowded on holiday weekends.

Where are you on the lake, we are on south end by the dam.

Enjoy as it doesn't get any better else where!

10 to life is easy!! A true Lifer can do 10 years sitting on the dock watching sunsets and the water level change twice a year.  No worries.  Welcome to heaven on earth. May the 10 years pass before you realize it.

What part of the lake are you on? And don't be afraid to post here looking for recommendations on anything and everything.  For the most part you will get good solid answers to questions and referrals for about any type work  or service you may need.  And of course you will sometimes get an irreverent comment meant to bring humor to situations but just roll with the punches.  It will take a while to learn the cast of characters and even longer to figure out some of the comments that are imbedded with double talk and and double entendre that have been garnered over years of having to much time on our hands....lol.

Welcome to Lake Martin and the forum.  I envy your plan to retire at the lake as my wife has made it clear that she will spend a lot of time at the lake post retirement but will need a place in Atlanta as well.  Maybe she will change her tune but she is too easily bored, which is exactly what I am seeking, the opportunity to be bored.

Don't worry Martiniman, after spending time there while you are here you will accept her ways.

Glad you made in home to Lake Martin.... People that arent raised here say "I wasnt born & raised here, it just took me longer to longer to get here than you".

You get one FREE bee extraction for being a new lake resident...

Oh I'm already well trained. The good news I guess is that we have a few years for one of us to change our minds.....I'm hoping its her. :-)

We are neighbors… in more ways that one !
We are in the Sandy Creek area off Susannah. We bought the house owned by Bill and Adelaide Brown. Two wonderful people-- who I am sure miss their home on Lake Martin. We fell in love with them AND their house on the hill. This summer we are there a lot and we have very nice neighbors who live here year round. The drive is not too bad and it gets shorter every time. When you pull onto that road and you see your driveway -- its like a million pounds lift off your shoulders. It allows us to slow down and breathe.

We had our boat on Allatoona for a few years-- know exactly what you mean about the red mud. :)   My husband as born and raised in Montgomery-- so he spent most summers on the lake and has been dreaming of living there since he was a kid.

To the guy whose wife wants to maintain a home in Atlanta -- I bet she changes her mind when the time comes. We are over it.
Thanks so much for the welcome -- we will definitely be seeking advice from the forum on all things Lake Martin.

Hope we don't need the bee extraction!! but we will look for you and buy some honey. Do you sell it? It's a forgotten art.

Beautiful lake in the southeast! There are some really fine folks in that part of the world. I hope that you get to know the folks around there and become an active member on this forum.

Crappy : )
