I have Yamaha WR and SeaDoo PWC's. I have been buying the branded oil from each respective dealer because I want to put the best Oil specified by brand in to the craft. That being said, I am growing tired of have to drive to the dealers in Atlanta(if you live there, you know the traffic) to get the branded oil. Is there anywhere on the lake that sells the Yamaha and Seadoo Bombidier branded oil? Rather get it local.

Or, from a quality standpoint, do I need seperate branded oil? or is there one non branded quality oil I can use for both.

I know Russell marinas sell the Sea-Doo oils, but as you might imagine they are darn proud of it! Try any Sea-Doo dealership off the water for better prices - they're in Montgomery, B'ham, Auburn, Sylacauga, etc.

Can't help on the other, but I imagine the same applies.

I used to follow a Sea-Doo board a lot and the consensus seemed to be that the SD synthetic oil generated much less sludge and residue than off-brands and was worth the differential in cost.

Are you talking oil for 2 or 4 stroke? What year skis?

Blue Creek Marina has, in the past, sold the Yamaha oil....they probably still do...Wal-Mart in Alex City sometimes carries the Sea-Doo Bombardier 2-stroke oil in smaller containers (quarts)...I have never seen the synthetic oil there......regarding Bombardier synthetic, you would probably come out cheaper buying online and paying shipping than forking over the outrageous amounts being asked for locally.......

I buy my seadoo oil at Fomby's. It's expensive but I've been told that using non-seadoo oil will make it smoke more.

If you have a SeaDoo that is specified to use synthetic oil, it is very important that you use only that oil. Other than that, the SeaDoo oil and Yamalube are very close in their specifications to standard 2 cycle oil and it's a matter of personal preference, as long as it is according to the "TCW-3" standard which should be on the container. Of course, 4 stroke PWC's require 4 stroke oil in their blocks, so they are very different. We have all of the, synthetic, branded and standard TCW-3 oils at Anchor Bay.

Use only synthetic oil. You will pay for it but it will help your top end last the longest.

The crankshaft and pistons are lubricated by the oil that is mixed in your fuel. I can not stress enough how important it is to properly lubricate the crankshaft. In addition, synthetics have greater lubrication properties then conventional. The synthetics tend not to 'carbon up' the exhaust side of the cylinder whereas cheap conventionals will form a hard coating around the exhaust port and the power valve (exhaust valve) and can lead to lock up of the valve and then the cylinder.

The absolute best synthetic PREMIX oil is rated 600 2T on the side of the bottle. Several manufacturers make this grade oil but I recommened MOTUL. If you MIX your own fuel you can go to 800 2T. FYI- Motul 800 2T is $13 per liter.

I sell some of these products at Lakeshore Performance over by Chuck's but you can get them at most shops. (Adam's Motorsports or Montgomery Honda/Yamaha sells them.)

I''ve always used Quicksilver Mercury TCW3 oil in my YAMAHA .
I don't know if you have access to ACADEMY sports they have it for $11.00
gallon. Otherwise Walmart brand TCW3. I sure would not buy it at the marinas.

Yamaha and sea doo watercraft use different engine configeration.Yamaha uses reed valve induction, while sea doo uses a cranckshaft driven rotory valve. TCW-3 is not recomendedin a sea doo because thedrive gear cause it to foam thus a lose of lubrication. All manufactures meter thier oil injection pumps to thier oil.If you use oil other than what is recomended you may be useing to much or not enought.

There is a very good article about these oils on the web site below. You have to read it more than once because it so technical, but the second time, I read slow and highlighted the parts I wanted to remember. The last paragraph sums it up pretty well.

Excellent article. Should be required reading for all Sea-Doo owners and highly recommended reading for all other PWC owners. Thanks for the URL.
