I currently have Direct TV and I need a new dish. Instead of replacing, I am wondering if there are some package deals out there. Does Charter offer a package deal on TV, phone and DSL? I am already paying separately for Satelite and telephone with no fast access. Thinking now might be a good time to upgrade. Any insights out there?

Bellsouth offers some package deals that you can bundle your phone, long distance, cell, DSL, and Direct TV. I am not sure if your will be able to get DSL, but here is a link (below). Hope this helps.....

There is no telephone over internet in Alabama yet. DSL gets worse as you get farther from the node of access.

I got Charter for high speed access but beware: once you have it you will never want to go back to the stone age of dial up.

I am going to Direct TV to get the Sunday ticket and droping my Charter TV service.

You can get DirestWay medium speed ISP but it is only 10x dial up ;download and you need a phone line for upload and $70/mo +$600 start up

I don't undertand why the dish needs replacing. Is it damaged? If it is or the LNBs need replacing, you can do that for about $40, or hang around a dump site and someone will bring one by they are trashing.

You can obtain the equipment from anywhere (legal) and obtain service from several points, including Bellsouth who is a DirecTV agent.

Internet telephone will work about anywhere there is a dial up connection. VOIP is the term, and it doesn't necessarily have to use high speed. There are VOIP drops in Alabama and ham radio operators use them extensively to talk into a half watt walkie talkie and talk via internet with others with walkie talkies on other continents. There is a connection in Dadeville or Alex City, if memory isn't wrong.
