you can probably get fried shrimp at Oskar's
The Cove probably has grilled shrimp
Sinclair's has a great shrimp salad
fried shrimp at Niffer's as well

the place in Alex City by the bridge used to have a seafood buffet on the weekends, i haven't been there in years, went by boat...not a good idea.. those steep stairs are in need of repair!

unfortunately, the answer is shrimp as far as seafood goes

Waverly has The Yellow Hammer restaurant...which has excellent fish!

hope this helps, sorry, i can't remember the name of the restaurant in Alex City, i think maybe it is called The Hill...if that's not the name it should be!

I think you will have to take a Sunday afternoon drive of about 150 miles for seafood. (I am sure Bham or M-town has something) There is a great Italian Restaurant in Wetumpka on 231 which serves some good sea food dishes along with other dishes. I can not recall the name off the top of my head. (AADD or whatever it is called) If I recall the name, I will post again.

I certainly second the views expressed about the Yellow Hammer. I have had some great dinning experiece in various place on this Earth, but none were any better than the Yellow Hammer. It is in our own Lake Back Yard. Just hope it stays in business for years to come.

Sinclairs did have a wonderful grouper salad last year, I know they took it off the dinner menu but you can still get it at lunch, and sometimes if you ask the chef. It is wonderful. My children also like the grouper bites... yummy.

Red Lobester is close to Captain D.'s.

McDonalds also has a fine fish sandwich. Just add enough tarter sauce to it and eventually it will taste good.

he is refering to Circle A Catfish. Took my family there....decent...neat atmosphere. It is run by a mother and daughter who also have a small farm on the property.

I gotta tell ya though....Oskar's is hard to beat on the catfish especially the fingers.

You're a long way from the sea--in more ways than one.

Most "seafood restaurants" cook the fish way too much. Most think the fish is done when it bounces off the grill.

I have had some enjoyble dining expericence there and some good seafood. Only had one semi-bad experiece, and the the place was crowded at the time. I would recommend it.

In a word ...no. Forget it.

Only pond raised shellfish & other scavengers and salmon & trout. The grouper I have been served at the Cove was not grouper and I suspect Sinclairs is not grouper either.

How about Auburn? Anybody know of anything there?

You can get some great fresh fish at Sextons Seafood Market in Birmingham(not a restaurant):

Sexton's Seafood Birmingham
(205) 967-3437
3164 Heights Vlg
Birmingham, AL 35243

Griiling on the deck unfortunately is the right choice.

I just thought of Yellowhammer...anyone know if fish is on the menu?

They do serve seafood as a part of their menu. Nice thing is there are special and generally one of the special dishes might be seafood. The link below shows there sample menu.

Thanks for the info on Sexton's.
