that is in no way related to the boat ban issue. How would one find out or estimate the average summer saturday usage on the lake in particular areas, e.g. Blue Creek/ Harbor Point ............Young's Island area and points north............and the Kowaliga/ Anchor Bay area? PWCs, Pontoons, sking rigs, pleasure boats, island jumpers, etc......Looking for help on this from all those analytical types that know how to do this stuff!

That is a good question. I wonder if this data exists? We all know how they count auto traffic. I think it would have to use statistical data. How could you gather that data any other way? Would you take arial 'snapshots' and extrapulate the usage data from there? Maybe laser 'trip beams' set up in areas of interest? But that would only give a total count, not a breakdown as to type. Auburn University might could help.

This will bug me till somebody posts a real answer........

Rude:

I would have to estimate that on a pretty Summer Sat urday the Young's Island area would see 500+ boats go by as boaters come from Sandy, Manoy, Madwin and River North through this cut through. Plus from the Pleasure Point, Ridge, Windover and Windermere areas. Also, a lot of folks just hang out on and around the varies beaches around Young's.

With respect to your other areas maybe others can help you with your question as I am not sure about these locations:

- Harbor Point / Blue Creek Area
- Kowliaga Bridge Area
- Anchor Bay Area

How about you guys pay me to sit in the areas in question and count. I wll drop anchors to keep steady, and see if I count more watercraft, or bottle tops... lol

Anyone want to come hang out and count with me? Nothing like a sunburn and a hang-over... Of course we will have to stay in that same position until morning (if we count too many bottle tops), but that isn't too much of a problem, as we can park anywhere on the 44000 acres we see fit... As a matter of fact, look for us as we may be coming to a place near you soon ;-)

Sounds like you got the right idea..................and I'm serious as a case of...................the shingles............about getting an estimate at any one of those 3 locations , if for only an hour. Say any hour between the hours of 11 am and 4 pm, how many boats /craft of any kind is in the area in question. I will pay you for your time in FOOD! I'm afraid the bottle caps and their hosts will be on your nickle!!
