Does anyone know what the legal and proper procedure is to remove a dead freezer in the lake area? I didn't know if Tallapoosa County has a landfield or some way to properly dispose of a freezer. It's an upright and easy to handtruck it away - I just don't know were to take it legally.

if it has rank meat in it. shoot at least six holes in it. roll it out to your dock.  tie a ski rope to it and get a running start with you boat and tow it till you can't tow it any further.  mark the spot and come back and fish there

There is a salvage/recycling yard in Alexander City right across the street from Home Depot.
I can't remember the name of it, but if you call the city waste department they can likely give you the name and phone number.

I can tell  you this from experience.....don't expect the waste department nor the recycling folks to be very helpful nor ccustomer friendly. There is a reason there are fridges floating all over the lake and it isn't just lazyness....the folks that should help are asleep at the wheel.

Also the recycling center will ask that the refridgerant has been removed. No idea how someone is supposed to do that in an environmental method......

There's a landfill at Central. I recall dropping a fridge there at some point.
