It looks like we are well on our way to full pool this year. The new rule curve is a big help. The power company is not let it go. The good lord is providing rain. To whom do we send a thanks to when we hit full pool. I'm sure everyone knows how to thank the guy upstairs and most do every night. Who in the power company, state ect, who gets credit?

I assume that the post about them dropping it 10 feet to bring the
princess cruise ship up the alabama for riley dedication is a joke.
Think RIley would be impeched for that lol

The Lord has been very good to us. Some might remember that I was quite critical of the management of the Lake by Alabama Power. Well they deserve a big round of thanks for managing the impoundment this winter and spring. They brought the lake level up even when we had no rain for long periods of time. This is just a guess but I do believe that the action Gov. Riley took with the Corps stated the whole shebang. He showed tha the Corps was not omnipotent and could be defied, which is what Al Power did concering the releases from Martin Dam. This action combined with the approval sought and obtained by Alabama Power to amend the rules, and the rains provided by God have us to 486", a level that seemed impossible just a few weeks ago.

Now, we do not need too much rain. If the floodgates have to be opened and downstream damage occurs, we can forget a permanent change in the rules in 2013.

Just my 2 cents.

OK, ya caught me and yes it is obviously a joke. This is however how some of these crazy rumors get started....I just made mine so crazy that I would hope anyone could see through it.

We indeed need to be thankful. Today we equalled the high level mark for all of last year (486' on May 11, 2007). I also have criticized APCO in the past and I agree they have done a lot for us lately (as has the good Lord). I think one point not to be lost in all this is that maybe some of our criticism created enough pressure to get results. So don't be hard on those critics of last year, they may actually deserve some of the thanks.
