This company has it's tenacles going everywhere. Maybe corporate tax laws might be a good place to start. And Obama wants the tax rates to be higher!

The company reported worldwide profits of $14.2 billion, and said $5.1 billion of the total came from its operations in the United States.

Its American tax bill? None. In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion.

While it seems out of balance, it is not GE's fault ... they are just applying the tax laws.  They are a worldwide company.

what this says is our whole tax system needs an overhaul.  It is not a single companys issue, as long as what they are doing is legal and within the law, why wouldn't they?

Can we all say "Fair Tax" .... we could pretty much eliminate the IRS ... helps the deficit too.

Of course Archie said he was going to start paying more because he did not feel he was taxed enough and thought the government could spend his money better than he can.  So the deficit should be coming down.

Yep, that's the way it works and why rich liberals are always whining about needing higher taxes.  They know they have the accountants and attorneys to minimze their tax liability, if not make it go away altogether like GE.  Frankly I don't blame them one bit and if I could legally eliminate my tax liability under the current laws I certainly would.

What is interesting is I don't recall seeing how much in foriegn taxes GE paid for last year.  In 2010 GE paid $0 federal taxes (and took a $1 billion tax credit) but from 2000 to 2009 it paid over $23 billion in taxes to foriegn countries.  Is it any wonder with the U..S having one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world.  Move net income overseas and pay lower tax rates on it.  Move costs and losses to the U.S. and get tax credits to offset future gains.  Yeah, higher taxes always results in more revenue to the government.......what a hoot....

We, the people… well, most of us people… don’t have a brace of tax attorneys and accountants behind us.  We have little clue of how tax codes apply to us.  a) we can’t understand them and b)  we wouldn’t have time to read the voluminous code if we could.  YET, we are deemed guilty if we violate such codes.  (Interesting it is coded – don’t you think?)

Each year… as tax season approaches… we a) really don’t know how much tax we owe and b) don’t know how much of our own money we will have returned to us.  The government will not pay interest on the money that we lent to them during the tax year.  But, you can bet the government will charge a penalty if we get caught owing them money.  By, caught, I mean misunderstanding the tax code or making a mistake.  If we had a brace of tax attorneys and accountants behind us, we could stand up and face them down (al la GE).  We don’t… disillusioned and discouraged, we just pay… and hate.

Do I hate and fear the IRS.  YES, I do!  My enemy has me by the cojones because they have me confused.  A Fair Tax law would put an end to that.  Government “code”, secrecy, and complication would be obliterated by the Fair Tax Law.

So those of you who are satisfied with the tax system the way it is, chime in here.  State your position and defend your thesis.

We can't see it. Can you please use a bigger and bolder font so it will make you appear to be more important? Thanks.

You should stop the car when you shoot.  It would improve your accuracy.
