we are amazing that we can see clearly and think for ourselves and don't need or want the government controlling any more of our lives. We would rather pay a fair level of taxes and keep more of our hard earned money to spend as we see fit, rather than how BO wants to spend it for us.
Thanks for seeing the light and admitting you are just a follower and want government thinking and making decisions for yourself.
Seeing your problem is the first step to recovery.

I classify myself as a conservative American who votes for what I perceive to be best for the nation rather than a political party. I will not hesitate to vote for a democrat over a republican if that candidate reflects my views. Conversely, I would not attempt to come back to my district and attempt to reflect a conservative record when I have just cast a vote for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker.
If I purchase a ticket to take a trip on a bus that has questionable tires; a driver that just left the streets of Chicago with zero driving experience; this is his first trip outside Chicago; the bus only has a half tank of gas; the driver has an empty wallet; and the driver does not have a road map or GPS system; should I be surprised that the trip will be a nightmare?
We need more citizens who are willing to take a stand based on principle and not based on political persuasions or fantasies.

Some of us conservatives still like a little thrill by going from vanilla ice cream to strawberry. Wow, what an experience.
We may even allow dancing on special occassions like the funerals of opposing party members.
All said in jest since I am so tired of political debates on the Lake Martin Forum.
I have to admit some of it is funny. There is so much brain power and analysis wasted by mere cut and pasters. I actually question the qualification of most to post on political matters in an unbiased manner. I certainly do not have the qualifications to post on these issues.
I could understand it all before the National election where it was rampant and well vocalised by all on the Forum.
Why it continues, really makes me wonder. It seems to be more of a popularity discussion or debate vs. lets get real and get on with our lives and our Nation.

You have the option of clicking on Lake Martin Topics, Fishing, etc. The whole point of the Off-Topics was to allow those that wanted to avoid issues like politics to avoid them. Just don't hit the left click button when the mouse is on "Off-Topics" and life will be good for you if you are tired of politics. Some of us actually like the banter and enjoy debates with the likes of GF and Hound (Archie and Lady are too non-sensical for any thinking person to enjoy).

Even this far right, insane conservative (who does not agree with many conservative postions) enjoys your posts.. Did not agree with Bush often, think Obama is a brilliant guy, but disagree with where we he is taking the Country.. I know that makes me a gun toting (right there) extremist (probably not)..

You have some of the best post in an incorrect enviroment.
I will still say this Forum is for non political discussion.
When will it end?
You have a lot of valuable opinions and views from a day to day perspective of the Lake. I would be best applied there and shared with the Forum.

Hey WW, I indeed do make decisions for myself and one of my best is to look at all sides of all issues and to never never never follow a bunch of extremists at either end of the political spectrum off the cliff. You and most of the poster's on this forum are so blinded by your extreme ideology that you cannot see that in today's America, whether you like it are not, your ideas have been rejected. If people such as you ever gain complete control of the Republican you will lead it in the way of the Whigs. Since the Civil War this nation has remained, depending on social, economic and other factors, somewhere between center-right and center-left, with the emphasis on "center" and both parties ignore that fact at their and the nation's peril.

... the other whiners that THIS forum is being used precisely for what it was intended. Topics NOT concerning Lake Martin. If it bothers you so much , quit clicking and if you can't/won't do that then stop b!tching.
As for Hound making the best of the worst (as you see it), I would agree she is in the top echelon, but not THE best. I do enjoy reading her posts though. I also give her credit for speaking her mind (wrong as it may be), and holding to her beliefs.

I am glad that he supports your being here, would hate to see you just sit in the shadows. Although we do not agree on many topics, you speak with knowledge and intelligence to support your beliefs, and I respect you for that. Those (on either side of the aisle) who simply say "I do this because this is how it has always been done" - sorry, no joy. I happen to believe that the Constitution is meant to be taken literally, it is not a "living" document, and that puts me at odds with our current administration.

I will hand you my hat on this one. You are mostly correct but go read recent post on the "Lake Martin Topic" section. Folks there say they refuse to visit "Off-Topic" due the politics and venom.
Therefore, I will surrender and agree you hand-full of folks should continue your enjoyment. Please continue to have at it with each other and please enjoy. I gather it does not annoy others and myself as much as it pleasure the remainder of you.
