So much erroneous information in the first couple of minutes.

You do realize that the majority of  people working for the government are college educated professionals? And those with high level security clearances? It's been years and years since there was any administrative or "journeyman" level positions -- mostly eliminated during previous government cuts.  And the figures that the he cites for non-government employees takes into account those working at minimum wage jobs such as slinging burgers at McDonalda as well as those who are working level professionals. And I assume those numbers do not include those very senior executives, CEOs and such earing in excess of $250K a year?
Amazing how those numbers can be manipulated, isn't it?

Honestly WW, I know you can do better than this.

OK, we need some clarity.

"majority of  people working for the government are college educated professionals"

Do you consider military as working for the government?

What is the source of your claim?

What is your frame of reference?  DoD or the entire Government?  Does it include Social Security?
Fire fighters?  Policemen?  Federal, State, County, and City?

I have my hand on the Bravo Sierra flag but will give you an opportunity to clarify your claim before throwing it.

I am sure you have more knowledge about the make-up of the government than I do ... I will give you that.   But the claims of the number of high paying jobs and the average above the private sector can not be challenged.  It has been being talked about for the last two years on the news.  You can also not dispute the percentage of workers that are now on government payrolls.   That is a problem ... it is not a government for the people and it is the direction of socialist governments.   Look at Greece and why there are protests ... the government employed the highest percent of people with lifetime pensions and benefits, etc ... now when they face collapse or cut the government payrolls and benefits .... the people are turning on the government that put them in that position.  The same happened in Argentina and Russia and other similar big government controlled economies and countries.

We have the ability to change that, save our country from the same fate ... so dispute all you want ... but the reality it is happening in front of you and I hope people realize it and the direction has failed EVERYWHERE it has been tried and when government got too big and the private sector lost control.

I also meant to comment about CEO's ... I can not say if his numbers included CEO wages ... but I will say it would not make a difference.   If you look at the fortune 500 who employee a high percent of workers ... even if all those CEO's made multiple millions of dollars (which they don't) it would not have a significant impact on the average.   Also, these are people that shareholders and BOD have to review and approve compensation packages ... so they are vetted and justified on value creation and various metrics.  Plenty are replaced when they do not deliver the results.

The other large group of "over $250" are small business owners that take risks and create jobs ... they are the economic engine of the economy.

please keep in mind that the government does not produce ... I agree their are necessary and valuable positions ... but EVERY government job has to be paid for by the private sector.   There is no other way to slice it ... unless government goes 100% to socialism or a dictatorship and start to nationalize businesses to fund their growth.

No, I was not considering the military, since the clip was talking about civilians. I don't know about every person in every agency, including those in the field activities, but I believe it has been documented that on the whole, the government workforce has a higher percentage of college educated people. I can tell you from personal experience that in my agency, we only had 3 people that had never attended college, and they were at the GS-11 level. We had 17 people that had PhD, 3/4 had Master degrees and the rest had at least a bachelors. That was an agency of 250 people. And the majority of people held at least a TS clearance, with more than half with an SCI. I'm told that this would increase an employees value on the open job market by about $20K. If you have followed the debates about federal pay vs. industry pay, it has generally been concluded by the OMB and CBO that federal pay, on the whole is comparable to industry pay, given the level of the jobs. It has been pointed out in numerous articles that comparisons that show federal compensation as being much higher than those in private industry are because they include those making minimum wage in unskilled jobs and the government just doesn't have those jobs anymore. As you well know, secretaries and administrative people, who would normally be at the lower end of the pay scale are few and far between in the government. You can call BS if you want, but I'm going on what I read. At different times there have been a plethora of articles on the Fed Page of the Washington Post, since this hotly debated at least once a year. Now, I will not argue about the increase of government jobs, nor will I argue about the increase in the grade structure. and I have my own views about that.
