Don't hit tab to get to the message section of the posting page.

Just wondered if fuel prices are starting to affect your boating plans?

I think one trip to the rocks per weekend is going to be necessary. Also, wife and I will need to double-up on waverunner rather than ride both. May even look to sell one.

Wonder if sail boat prices will rise?

But I hope they come down before we get yet another distraction to a national economic recovery.

The Caravelle gets exceptional fuel milage and my fiance' and I typically spend much of our time at islands or at the rock. We usually use less than a tank per weekend, so our activities will remain the same--our wallets will just be slightly more empty.

The average boater uses much less than a tank of gas per weekend and they rarely use their boat during the week, so the increased fuel prices probably mean less than $10 per week for 6 to 10 weekends over the summer. Nobody's happy about the increase, but with the investment that people have in cabins, boats and other toys, they are not likely to forego their use for $10.

Food for thought - at $1.00 per 20 oz bottle, Dasani water will cost you about $6.90 per gallon. Which do you think is the better value, water or gasoline at $2.40 per gallon? Actually, the most expensive fluid we sell is Corona beer at about $11 per gallon. We have few complaints about the price of beer, water or soft drinks.

Huh... if I can get 20 oz. for $1.00, but a gallon for $6.90, then I must not know how many ounces are in a gallon. I always thought it was 64, but according to this, it's 138.

JimBob, if you think there are 64 oz to a gallon, you are really getting screwed at the pump. Let's go to school....

8 oz = 1 cup
2 cups (16oz) = 1 pint
2 pints (32 oz) = i quart
4 quarts (128 oz) = 1 gallon

128 oz / 20 oz bottle of water = 6.4 bottles per gallon

We charge $1.09 per 20 oz bottle of water, so 1.09 x 6.4 = $6.98 per gallon

If this is not correct, let me know so I can adjust our price.

I was wondering the same thing. Both our bass boat and bowrider have full tanks at the moment and I'm not sure what we'll do when they run out. It really wouldn't bother me to let them sit. It would bother me more to pay $85-$100 to fill up on GAS. I seriously don't see that happening.
It's not so much the budget but the principle. It's just not worth burning that much of it at that price...there are other frogs to catch. Boating isn't the end of all ends....

since we are only, well, this august will be our third year, and most of the time down if not yard work we spend boating. I think we will cut down on the boating, and learn new things with the kids, we got a great spot for horse shoes and badminten? My little jet boat can burn 25 gallons in no time. Pontoon gets much better just a whole lot slower.

yes, this will cut down on our use, or I'll be hauling gas in cans, and curse every minute of it!

Anchor, you need to understand the person that gives those figures, he more than likely went to Auburn.
