No surprise there as the dollar has gotten very strong in the last 4 or 5 years making our exports more expensive for foreign buyers.  But it also makes oil much cheaper because the dollar is the benchmark currency and it makes international products cheaper for the American public.  Of course it also could seriously hamper our manfacturing industry if the dollar stays strong as well as elminate domestic oil exploration.  Not sure how the current administration is going to continue to handle the strength of the dollar as it has both positive and negative implications.  Prior administrations tended toward a weaker dollar.  Has there been much written about this?

I haven't seen anything written, per se, but financial anaysts are blaming the recent drops in the stock market on the strengthening of the dollar against the Euro.  One of the problems of U.S. exports is that other countries subsidize their industries and assist them with offsets, which the U.S. does not.  Even when the economy was strong, according to the industry official I spoke to, U.S. industry has difficulty competing.

What about our farm subsidies, ethanol subsidies, auto bailouts, green energy stimuli, etc.?

Yes, but those are domestic subsidies.

USA is top country for exporting soybeans and corn.  USA is one of top five countries for exporting cars, delivery trucks and refined petroleum.
