Reports say Dear Leader vetoed a gracious official statement about Sen John McCain and instead issued an impersonal tweet that acknowledged his passing and expressed sympathy for the family but gave not so much as a thumbs-up for his service. This morning the flag over the White House is back at full staff. Classy, real classy!!

He certainly didn't praise him while he was living...why praise him now that he is dead?

That is certainly one of the things he will be remembered for and one of the reasons I admired him even though I disagreed with him on most issues. I admired him because he always acted the way his conscience dictated. He did and voted what he honestly felt to be best for all Americans, not what is best for him or the way a political party preferred.

McCain's most famous moves....

1. As mentioned above, his final, and most telling move, was to vote against the Republican effort to get rid of o-BAMMIEcare. He did this, not for the good of the nation, but to get even with Trump. Grudge muffin!!
2. His most telling deficiency was his inability to judge winners.....best example is his selection of Sarah Palin as his choice to run as his Vice Pres in 2008. This character flaw helped give us the worst 8 yrs since Jimmie Carter.

They did not like each other, so why pretend otherwise? It Trump died and McCain were left, it would be the same thing. McCain banned Trump from his funeral - so what are you expecting? Hearts and a flowerly speech? That would be disingenuous.

he can not only read a man's mind but can also look into his soul!
As for Sarah Palin, he did screw up and admitted it (something Dear Leader has never done even once in his entire miserable life) and said he should have gone with his conscience and Joe Lieberman instead of his campaign team's advice. Did you feel the same way about Palin during the 2008 presidential race?

There is campaigning and supporting a bill publicly and voting against your caucus at the last minute. Can't tell me that for the good of the nation he suddenly had a change of heart.

What I have read is that the flag was half staff for two days. Protocol for a deceased Senator is one day. Kennedy got 5 days.....Maybe four of those were for Mary Jo.

Please point out a specific instance of John McCain supporting the GOP Healthcare bill in question prior to the senate vote on that bill. I believe you will find that he had been very quite on the bill in the weeks just before the vote (perhaps because he had just been told he was dying) causing speculation as to exactly how he might vote or whether he would even make it to DC to vote.

Go look at his platform when he ran against Ann Kirkpatrick. Per USA Today, 9/27/2017 no conservative rag by any means, this was his principal distinction, he would vote to repeal and replace, she would not. Can even find a youtube political ad endorsed by McCain that says the same.

McCain was simply grandstanding in the Senate when he showed up, made a stupid act of turning THUMBS DOWN for his vote, just to twist the knife one more time in the citizens of America. Personal pride above all.....especially Americans. It's over.

there is a difference in advocating the "repeal and replacement of Obamacare" and voting for a specific very flawed proposal that claimed to do that when in reality it would have made things much worse! Hell, even Obama said he would support a repeal and replace bill if the replacement in fact was an improvement! The bill McCain voted against was a sham opposed by over 60% of Americans. Show me any McCain quote where he specifically advocated for the bill being considered prior to the vote!

Decency is what Trump did. Holding a grudge would be failing to issue a public statement. Holding a grudge is saying that the President of the United States is not welcome at your funeral.
You always go for the cheap sentifment Arch.

Splitting fine hairs Archie. Ocare passed with just as little support, but that didn't affect the Dems. How would you know what would have succeeded and what wouldn't. Heck, you all said a 4.1% GDP was a pipe dream and we have all seen what Trump has been able to do. Your crysal ball is lopsided.

Google and listen to or read all the statements of Trump about McCain and all statements of McCain about Trump over tha past 3 years.
Then tell me honestly who you think was the one holding a grudge.
BTW: Trumps tardy very grudging public statement that actually mentioned McCain's service came only after the AMVETS, American Legion and VFW read Dear Leader the riot act and you know it as well as I do!

Hey WIX, I voted fo McCain in the 2000 primary and probably would have voted for him in the general had he gotten the nomination. Since you are so down on McCain and so critical of his political actions and his selection of Sarah Palin I assume you must have either stayed home or voted 3d party in 2008. I know there is no way you could have voted for a black man who is a Muslim from Kenya!

Since you are so convinced McCain was such a great guy - why didn't you vote for him in 2008? He would have beaten Obama easily if everyone singing his praises now had actually voted for him.

Many of those praising John McCain, including me, are doing so not because they agree with his politics but because they appreciate his life, his service, and his loyalty to the better angels of his own soul. Why can't you and your fellow Trump worshipers understand that? Why do you have such a problem with it?

I have no problem with her opinion Phil. I just think this one (definition of a hero) is not logical and am using my 1st amendement to point that out. It's called ''give and take'' or ''debate'' Phil and used to be a foundation of the political discourse in our nation.
Why do you have an obvious problem with any opinion from anybody that is anything other than praise for Dear Leader Donald Trump or hateful condemnation of Barack Obama? Why do you belittle and degrade anybody that expresses an opinion that is not in alignment with yours? I know I often am guilty of the same, so naturally have to wonder why it seems to be OK coming from you and WIX and others of a similar bias but unacceptable coming from me or another of the rare non-Trumpista who post on this forum. Could it perhaps be, as I have observed on many occasions to loud disdain, a wee bit of hypocrisy?
