Sure seems to be alot of advertising via Alabama Power poles. My opinion......these signs make the area look trashy (Atlanta). Is it okay to remove the signs? I doubt the advertisers received permission to post the signs but guess they could have.

Seems to me that if they don't need permission to post signs, you don't need permission to take them down. But you might want to keep your engine running for a quick getaway, just in case!

is all the personal and advertising signs on public right of ways. Tear them down. Many of the advertisers with signs up are no longer even in business. I tried a few numbers years back and got disconnected phone messages. Roofing and Gutter Advertisers place signs way up high on the utility poles and trees. Tear them down after ten PM.

I filled the back of my truck up along County Road 20 and a few back roads in Coosa County in 2003. The same area is even worse today.

Boycott any adversiser who litters our Lake environment.

APCO does not allow signs posted on their power poles..they will sometimes take them down themselves...but not always.....any sign on APCO pole is fair game IMHO.....

I think the personal address signs are kinda neat.....you know, the ones that say things like Jim & Wanda's Lake Shack. Everything else can go!

I know there are some who agree with you Newbie, but I do not. I would not personally tear these signs down, but I think they are litter all the same.

You would not see them posted on your street corners in town. They are placed on property not belonging to the litter offender. Place them on your mail box or on your own or their own property if you must.

I would prefer to see the Lake and it surrounding as natural as possible without these eyesores.

Well it's good to know others agree. Actually, I've been pulling them down for 2 years now. And for the ones up high....I have an extension ladder. The roads leading to my cabin have no signs and they sure look better now. The realtor signs and personal signs I can tolerate, but others must go.

The personal signs add rustic charm. Real estate signs are necessary. We do not need the other JUNK.

Other than the sign being in front of the house that is for sale where should the sign be?

Eagle Point and Bolton Cove each have a billboard size sign on the public right of way at the intersection of HWY 259 and Coosa County 20 East.

I would not want anyone hurt, but it would be nice to see a logging truck wipe out both of them in one swoop.

Did APCO stop the posting of real estate signs on the water front side of listed property?

I have not noticed any during my recent trips. I do see the signs on the corners and on the street side of properties.

I kinda like the hap-hazard, homemade signs. I remember traveling to the lake as a kid and you knew you were really close when you saw those signs popping up. It's too bad that so much other trash gets posted also. After reading this thread, I may start taking down one piece of "litter" every time I go.

That's what I did: take a few each trip. I was surprised that they didn't go back up. Only a few dared post again...a little higher on the pole, thus the ladder. They are easy to remove.

I know for a FACT that LTL hates signs.
Bob loves signs.
LTL thinks people who likes signs are idiots.
Bob thinks people who hates signs are idiots.

Sorry, I didn't want a thread to slip by without some of this in it!!! :-)

not so fast my friend...I actually hate the signs myself so if LTL hates the signs we would have found our first agreement. I bet he likes them though...

Bob, I think you are misspelling your name. Doesn't it have two O's?

LL - You sure you want to get involved in this LTL mess?
