Anyone have an opinion on which is best? I have been trying to decide what to buy, a tritoon or a double pontoon boat. I think I have decided on the Aqua Patio, just need help with the toons.
Thanks

No if and or buts - Tritoon. I have owned both and hands down the tritoon is superior to my old pontoon.
- Smoother ride
- Greater stability in rough waters
- Faster on plane
- Planes at lower speed
- Better gas mileage
- Higher capacity rating
- Better resell value
- Less likely to porpoise in rough water
- Safer
- Etc.

Agree 100% with everything Mav said. Also, lifting strakes combined with a performance package are well worth the extra money....not sure if Aqua Patio has a top notch performance package, but Bennington, Premier, and Manitou all have excellent options. I highly suggest you test drive at least one of these before making a decision.

I have never ridden on a Tri-toon but it seems to me that well designed deck boat or a catamaran hull would be more practical.

Agree with all. Tri-toon with as much power as she is rated for. But do yourself a favor and look at G3's. Boat motor and trailer all made by Yamaha. Quality and amenities of all the others but significantly less money.

I've ridden in them all many times and would choose a performance tripple toon hands down for the most practical and versatile lake boat.

If they perform that good maybe a fiberglass boat company should make a deck style boat with the hull the shape of 3 pontoons. The center of gravity could certainly be lowered a few inches.
Maybe I can make one when I have plenty of time and money. Ha

They already make a boat similiar in that style, its called a cat with a center pod. Check out the pics Mckay put up of my boat and you will see what I am talking about, and yes very stable and performs very well!

Of course there is some personal preference that goes into all of this and everyone uses their boat a little differently. 10 years ago I'd have chosen a deck boat for the most versatility on the lake, but the new technology available in toons is amazing if you look at the high end performance options......if you're over this way some time, I'll take you for a ride.

Don't forget about service after the sale. You dont want to drive a long way and they do require warranty work.

Thanks again for everyones input, you helped me make a decision. I ordered a Tri-toon(AquaPatio) yesterday with a 150 Yamaha. Looking forward to using it this Spring and Summer.
Hope to see you on the lake.

Manitou calls their sport handling package SHP....again, much better than a standard tri-toon (even one with strakes)

The three pontoons I posted video of all have sports packages that I have personally tested. All are excellent. I'm sure there are others out there that are also excellent. I posted these videos for anyone who may be considering a new toon, because this type of handling is relatively new over the last 5 years and the engineering is a considerable improvement over older technology (even tri-toon technology). Many are unaware that there really is a big difference; again, I highly recommend folks considering a new or used boat test a few brands with this type of system prior to purchasing. It's not for everyone because it is more expensive, but I think many will decide the higher cost is well worth the difference.

I think I will just stick with houseboats. I really have no desire to go fast at this stage in my life. I really like being able to go inside when a storm comes. It is also great to wake up on the water and drink coffee on the front deck. When everybody else on the lake has gone home and the lake is smooth as glass with the sun setting just over the trees and reflecting over the water it is the best time to go for a ride.
Yea, seven mph is a good speed to ride, especially on the river. I haven't had time lately to go houseboating much since starting my part time boat repair business, sure do miss it sometimes. Lake Jordan was really pretty today from my parents house, maybe I will take out the houseboat tomorrow for awhile. If you see Becky's Dream stop by and say hello.

The Adventure Craft 28' houseboat is similar in shape to 3 toons with the center out front of the sides by about 3'.
