My family and I will be on the lake from June 26th thru July 10th. We all enjoy pistol shooting and were wondering if there were any outdoor ranges nearby?

Thanks,
Steven

I don't know, but you can go to the NRA convention in Pittsburg tonight and join a bunch of gun toten whacko's who think an assault weapon's ban is a bad idea. Yeah, lets put assault weapons in the hands disturbed youth and maybe we can have more columbine-like shootings!
I wish I knew why some people are so fascinated by guns? It must be a Primal urge to make oneself feel powerful.

I am a gun toting person...but am for GUN CONTROL...not anti gun everything..as is bespoke by those who have never fired one..not even in boot camp..I am not a hunter either..

I started when I saw a woman accosted on the interstate and not one of the anti gun folks stopped to help here..I guess "dont do that ' doesnt work very good in thoat situation

Alex City has the only offical gun range....and you can get int rouble by just picking a spot and firing away...best idea...make sure you are away form all and out of hearing...then have at it...there are areas like that..just have to look

How about then your response to:
People using guns kill people
people using knives kill people
people using fists kill people
people using feet kill people
peolpe using ropes kill people..

You did have it part right...whackos using any of the above kill people...and that is what gun control is about...not taking a weapon out of the hands of a rational conservative person...but...only one who has not ever be accosted can really make this judgement ..right???

Comments on grammar or spelling will be a poor response to this...kinda like a non-response..

I sure hope someone can give me a rationale ...be gald to support any real valid response

Gee, I thought gun control meant being able to hit the target with accuracy.

Actually, I never thought about owning a gun until moving into Georgia. Up north, its not controlled but extremely regulated. I was able to carry my 12-gauge across the NJ border into NY back into NJ since it was the only way to get to the skeet/trap range, but, knew this was not legal even though it was for sport/hobby. Pistol ownership, however, was a major Bozo no-no.

Moving down to Dunwoody in the late 80's, found out that the neighbor'hood was not as safe as we were led to believe. Thus, took police-taught classes and bought a pistol for my wife. Low & behold, we come to find out that pistol shooting is actually another stress-relieving hobby. Every week, we'd go & shoot quite a few rounds at the indoor range. We also found families out shooting. The parents would guide and instruct the kids and the night was actually quite fun for them.

So, as for fascination with guns, its like someone first being introduced to driving. You're being given a very powerful item that you've only seen & heard about but never got to experience first-hand. Once that person is carefully tutored on "how" to use that item, the fascination wears-off and its just another part of everyday life.

The families I know who have introduced guns to the kids have stated the fascination is fairly much gone since there are other items that now occupy their lives. The only family I've seen where guns are a integral part of their daily life (other than law enforcement) is a family who owns a skeet/trap range. The father is a highly ranked sharp-shooter and the son is also highly ranked in his age bracket.

The diffference is how people use these items. Cars have a few more uses than guns but both can still be hobbies. By the same token (and expressed by your paranoia), guns, like cars, are very dangerous. Again, how was someone taught/instructed. Sitting by themselves, nothing happens with a car or gun. As a matter of fact, both items can rust and be ruined with non-usage.

forgot that personal item...it is stress relieveing too...
Used to shoot about 50 rounds thru each of my pistols to stay half sharp...and it was a great stress reducer..or maybe I wasnt stressed in the first place..

Did I see you at the maina on Saturday...is your boat in the wet slips there??

If yopu came by may have seen some additions on the dock..

Haven't been out there for a few weeks now. Getting "lake-fever" and can't wait to get back out there. You probably saw Lee from a distance this past Sat.

The current plan is to be out on the lake this Saturday, 4/24, weather dependent (per the wife due to our Hurr. Bill experience from last year). Hoping to properly introduce the boyz to the lake. Got those itty-bitty life-jackets ready. They've been able to fit into them quite nicely. Been trying to get out there to see the new additions but its always been day-trips to do some type of work.

mr striker57, there is a pistol range in Alex city. It is by membbership only. You can get the details from a gun store in A/C . Its called "The Sure Shot" . They handle all the membership info. Hope this helps....
