One of the many pre-election spins we heard was that people were angry with government and that this was an anti-incumbent mood because of the ad economy and nothing more.  Well last night put that fantasy to bed.  Not sure what the numbers as some of the close races are called but so far only two GOP incumbents were defeated.

There is no doubt this was an anti-Dem election as we saw numerous very conservative Dems in the south go down in flames. What the GOP has to understand is they are not all that popular as a party and certainly not consistent with the numbers last night.  What this tells me is they attracted independents that realized their mistake in 2006 and 2008 and that they were put there to roll back and oppose the radical Obama/Reid/Pelosi agenda and to offer conservative solutions.

If they fail to do so they will be punished in 2012 and rightly so.  The House needs to vote to repeal Obamacare and send it to the Senate.  They need to vote to extend the Bush tax cuts for at least three years, if not permanently and send it to the Senate.  They need to pass a budget that doesn't fund one penny of the implementation of Obamacare, cuts federal spending and does not contain one single earmark.  And that is just what they need to do in January.

That would be my sentiments also.

Don't forget that while they won the House, they didn't win the Senate.  And the President still has the veto.

Sadly, I predict gridlock for the next two years.  We'll be lucky if they get any legislation through.

Rather than two more years of Marxist and entitlement laws - it is far closer to following the 10th amendment. Now that we are printing another $600 billion (see QE2), everyone in the country will be rich - just look at all the money in our wallets.

$600,000,000,000 = $6 x 106 = $6 X 1011

$6 x 1011 / 3.5 x 106 people = $1,714.29 for EACH citizen.

at 3.5% inflation

For my 13 year old grandson, that's $2,036.04 for his share of that debt on his 18th birthday.

For my 11 year old grandson, that's $2,181.06 for his share of that debt on his 18th birthday.

For my 5 year old grandson, that's $2,681.07 for his share of that debt on his 18th birthday.

NOT counting the interest to be paid on the bonds.

Somebody please check my math!

Using an average amount per grandson of $2,000 over a 7 year period until they reach 18, you would have to help them by putting away in a lock box $6,000/7=$857 per year or $2.37 per day. Assuming a 7 1/2 hour work day, that works out to $.316 per hour out of you paycheck. Hardly seems like enough to get all worked up over when gas is over $2.37 per gallon and the red wigglers I bought the other day cost $2.75 for a container.

So all we need to do is get more people to work more hours and it will be even less per person per hour!!
Did you exclude all the non-working, non-productive inhabitants of the USA?
Ain't math great?
But it seems the inclination of most people is to work less and expect more - yes?
Sounds like we need someone who knows better than us tell (force) us what to do. No?

And the gain in Governorships may have longer lasting consequences than the current House slam-dunk.

Last night was a move in the right direction...from what was a nightmare to just a bad dream...and maybe in 2012 we can complete the recovery.

Spoken like a true Collectivist, I appreciate your honesty when you say "it is only $.316/hour out of YOUR paycheck". I know yesterdays election results produced a subtle, possibly confusing, message, so let me lend some clarity -- get YOUR hands out of MY pockets. I like saying this, so please, forgive me if I am repeating myself. For the first time in nearly 2 years, I am truly proud of my country.

I have been saying all along that they would not win the Senate.  But tell me how many incumbent GOP Senators lost in this cycle?  Answer, none.  How many seats went from Dem control to the GOP in the last two years, including a good number of incumbents?  Answer, seven.  My point all along is that with our RINO's we were never going to be able to override a veto which is why we need to get rid of Obama in 2012 AND pick up a couple of more seats in the Senate AND maintain control of the House.  If all that happens then repeal of Obamacare is possible, although not guaranteed (see my RINO comment above).

In reality having Harry Reid win may be the best thing that could happen for the GOP.  Now in 2012, presumably after two unsuccessful years of trying to repeal the wildly unpopular Obamacare the GOP can argue to the American people that the only way it can happen is to eject Obama and more Dem Senators. And I believe after two more years they will see all the lies that Obama/Reid/Pelosi told them about what would happen under Obamacare it will be even more unpopular. Harry and Obama are just the kind of fools that will play right into that gambit.
