It's been the law for 20 years but Trump wants a new law...............Tell the truth Mr President....

"President Trump called for a new law barring immigrants from receiving welfare for at least five years at a rally on Wednesday. But neither Trump nor nearly 6,000 of his die-hard supporters seemed to realize that the law has already existed for more than 20 years. 

Trump received a standing ovation and pledged his administration would put the legislation into effect “very shortly.” 

“I believe the time has come for new immigration rules which say that those seeking admission into our country must be able to support themselves financially and should not use welfare for a period of at least five years,” Trump told the crowd in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

As The Hill reported, President Bill Clinton signed the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act in 1996. The law prevents immigrants from receiving federal benefits, such as food stamps, Medicaid, and Social Security for five years after entering the country."

So why has Congress failed to follow the "law"? Just one more reason for draining the "Swamp". So what did "your" President do for the last eight years? What is the penalty for breaking the law?   That immigrants had to prove before admittance that they had the means to support themselves via trade, profession or sponsorship. Now instead of requiring proof that they can support themselves they are given a pamphlet with instructions on how to sign up for numerous federal and state programs in fifteen languages. Yes, 15 languages. I mean we can't tolerate anyone falling through the cracks and missing benefits.

As usual, you like to introduce a new subject but don't have the guts to respond to logical questions that arise from your post. If you aren't willing to back up your thoughts why do you even bother in the first place? You still haven't answered my question, "What did your President do for the country the last eight years"? I will give you one answer, "He flooded the country with illegal immigrants and you provided them with more benefits than you allotted to our veterans"(while breaking the law) . Oh, and in case you have forgotten, "He created more division and thrived on telling "lies" to the American people during his "transparent" administration.

Why didn't you tell both sides of the story and say that your President Obama "knew" the law existed, but chose to break the law by bringing in hoards of illegal immigrants and on their arrival providing them with more benefits than were being made available to our veterans? Why was Obama more interested in bringing more immigrants and providing them with benefits that were against the law, but "ignored" homeless people who were much more deserving of help? Since I don't expect you to answer, I will provide an answer. He would do anything to add new voters to the Democratic Party.

You certainly have a one track mind. It seems that the only subject you can bring to the formum is that someone lied. What is worse, breaking the law or telling lies? Your beloved President Obama was a master at doing both? The fact that there are thousands of laws on the books and that President Trump didn't know that doesn't make him a liar, but you will stretch anything to call someone a liar. Do you think a new President comes on board and begins searching back 20 years to see if a particular law was on the books? Perhaps someone on his staff failed to do their homework. You can bet your sweet a$$ than none of the left wingers still hanging around are going to lift a finger to heip. One thing is for sure, the number of immigrants crossing the border has slowed down significantly in the last few months and the ones that are coming will have to fend for themselves; no more taxpayer money being handed to them upon their arrival and no more pamphlets printed in 15 languages given out telling them what benefits they are entitled.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               On another note, I accused you of not having the guts to answer reasonable questions asked about subjects you post. Your only come back is calling someone else a liar. For the "third" time I ask you what your President Obama did for the country during his eight years in office? We all know that he did nothing but degrade America in the eyes of other countries around the world, lied to get Obama Care passed, called ISIS the JV, joined the Nuclear Treaty with Iran, gave the Russians our uranium, backed away from his "line" in the sand, created civil unrest throughout the country, signed the Climate Change Treaty, etc,etc,etc. You also called Karen Handel a liar just because you "think" she will be a liar in her new position in the House.
