How do most of you lock your jet skis since many of the older ones don't even require a key to start. I was thinking of a lock and chain on the front but locks are really for honest people.

I use a cable lock that I bought at Lowes. It is by Master Lock and I can put it through the front or rear eye easier than a chain. I do agree that locks are for honest people. My theory is that the thief will pass on to an easier (unlocked) target. Hopefully none of us have a problem, but that is wishfull thinking I guess.

I have a friend that is a fanatic about locking stuff up. He uses a plastic coated cable through the bow eye then wrapped around one of the pier posts and a coated padlock.

I used to think it was not much use until last week. I've even left the keys in the pontoon the whole time I've had it, until my episode last week that is. I guess these are desperate times for some people.

Theres a post on the Lake Martin site about some jet skis being "borrowed" by a neighbors drunk kids. I guess a lock would have stopped that.

Sigh,
