My neighbor had an orange buoy out off his dock, near the east side point of Ridgeview Point in the Ridge. It disappeared about 2 weeks ago. My question is do you just confiscate them or do you notify the home owner that their buoy is not in compliance? He was wondering if it was stolen, or if someone confiscated it?
Thanks,

Probably either stolen or run over by a boat. If owners would connect the buoy with about 10-12 feet of 1/4" stainless cable and swages, it would be much more difficult to steal. If run over by a boat the cable may snarl in the prop and the boater will still be attached when you come back, or it will have cost him a pretty penny.

And the one who placed it ther will be responsible for the repairs. GREAT PLAN

Now I could be wrong here so correct me if I am, if you get tangled in someone’s cable when putting around in the dark and it get all twisted in your prop/s, it is legal if you can get free to wrap that cable around the owners boat prop and to their dock so that they will incur the same condition when they leave the next time? Their defense will be they just did not think, working without adequate materials is not a valid defense

If it is an illegally placed restrictive buoy we confiscate it. The person who placed it could actually be charged with doing so.

In your friend's case, he left a message at the office and I returned his call. We don't normally pick up swim buoys unless they are interfering with traffic or loose and we haven't picked one up at or near that location.
