Big Al Welcome to the lake, what part are you on?

Go to the "Boat Maintenence Forum" located down the left side and ask "Cat Boat" the same question and he will give a professional answer instead of an opinion. He is a friendly guy that has a business working on boats.

Good luck!

And following what Tom said, I believe a Mercruiser engine is built from a Chevy Motor....

My vote would be for the Mercruiser package. Best reason is you have an almost built in Mercruiser authorized dealer at Surfside Marina. Jerry and Diana Woods run the best shop on that end on the lake. Rodney is the shop foreman and lead mechanic and has been there for over 15 years. He is also factory trained. Why buy a product that would have to be taken any further than necessary for service. I have only owned Mercruisers and swear by them, wouldn't own anything else. My 2 cents.
