Newt Gingrich is revving up the “Contract with America” initiative again.

Too bad, that the Republicans broke the last so named contract with us. They would not be out of power had they stayed the course… “fool me once, shame on you…”
Their history not withstanding, here are the first four issues attributed to Mr. Gingrich for the next contract:
No. 1 issue is jobs
No. 2 issue is energy
No. 3 replace/repeal healthcare bill (if it passes)
No. 4 issue is education.
My advice is that he consults the Constitution of the United States for the duties of the federal government. He seems to have missed the obligation to provide for the “common defence” (sic). Osama bin Laden’s successor and lieutenants are watching.
Why am I not excited about the prospect for a new contract? More than we need the rhetoric, we need to have confidence that they will keep their word and the contract. We need the old contract, brought out…dusted off… reinstituted.
Why, do I regard this as politics as usual?
As dangerous as it sounds, perhaps we need a constitutional convention in this country… won’t happen.
