Don't mean to be rude and stomp on your post Rikiray. I am in Northern Virginia. I just saw gas prices jump 25 cents in two hours (noon to 2 PM)here. It is now three bucks a gallon and possibly still climbing.

I hope they don't ration since that in of itself is a big waste of fuel.

Just jumped 25 cents per gallon in Montgomery as well.

Was out at lunch today (Wednesday, 31st). 1 to 3 stations out of gas. People fleeing empty stations had a little white in their eyes. Think some may be losing control.

Know some stations in Shorter are out of gas.

Wondered about elsewhere?

Well there are lines in Atlanta everywhere. Typical news media induced hysteria. If everybody in this 4,000,000+ topped off we'd run out of gas anytime. Looks like that's what's happening. It will be OK in a couple of days when the pipeline comes back up fully. Just a power/ pump problem I hear - not gas supply.

Stay Cool!

I paid $2.65 a gal this morning and was limited to 10 gallons. 30 minutes later I stopped at another station to complete my fill-up and paid $3.00. Later this afternoon, same station was up to $3.65. I think the news media stirred up a frenzy and stations took advantage of the situation to gouge consumers.

I think we should all pause and say a prayer for the unfortunate ones in the gulf coast areas.

I also think police should shoot to kill the sorry a** looters and pillagers. They are breathing air that could best be smelled by law abiding folks.

Labor day weekend just got more expensive for all of us.

We were told today that the order we placed last week for marina fuel for Labor Day weekend will not be honored - no gas is available. As a result, we have only about 3,000 gallons going into the holiday weekend where we normally sell 10,000 gallons. We should be out of gas by sometime Saturday. Therefore, we are rationing fuel to only dispense 30 gallons per boat - in an attempt to 'satisfy' as many boaters as possible.

I spoke with several other marinas today and the story is pretty much the same all over the lake.

I'm guessing that the fuel shortage combined with the Alabama and Auburn home games will diminish the number of lake visitors this weekend. I know for sure thaty the Marine Police won't be here - they have been deployed to the Gulf Coast.

If I could get the fuel, the cost really wouldn't matter too much!

Emailed Kowaliga today regarding gas and here is their response:

We have enough to get us through a normal Labor Day weekend. However, I am not sure how the other marinas on the lake are stocked. If they run out, then we'll have more requests for fuel than normal. We do not have Premium, only 89 octane. It is currently @ $2.94. We will pump until it's gone, although we may begin to ration if we get low.

Just called River North, they also are out of Premium and as of this morning have 4,000 gallon of 89. With regards to rationing, he was not aware of Russell planning on doing such as of this monment. But thought the idea might make sense.

Told me to call him on Sunday prior to coming down to ensure they still had gas.

Just thought I would pass this info along.

How is the gas situation in the area today? We plan to come up to Lake Martin tomorrow but will need to fill up to get home on Monday. Florida seems to have plenty but I heard that Valdosta and Albany are low/out. Thanks for your help.

Don, could you please tell us the gas price on the water as of today please..?

Whats the situation of land based stations? are they rationing now?

If all else fails i'll enjoy a nice weekend sitting on the dock fishing.

But i'd like to have enough gas to get home. Gas is currently 2.99 in Trusville.

help please!
Thanks!

89 Octane fuel is currently between $2.94 and $2.99 per gallon on the Lake. Nobody here has chosen to price gouge - only charging their normal markup on the fuel they have at the price they purchased it.

I personally equate price gougung to the looting I saw on TV.
