Does anyone know who does trolleys or railways to the lake from the house? We live on a steep slope and as we get older, we despise carrying things up and down over 70 steps. Would be really interested in some kind of device. Can anyone help?
I had a friend who lived on a cliff hanger (not on this lake) and had a device like that build. He told me it cost more than he paid for his cabin. Have you considered a golf cart and a path? It would probably be cheaper.
You could put up a single overhead track with rollers that are used on sliding barn doors.
I just installed some on my building that I got from Alabama Steel Supply in Montgomery.
Let me know if you want more information.
Houseboat
The power company would frown on the number of golf carts that would end up in the lake. Very steep. Lots of old folks come to visit. They end up in the house instead of the boat. And I'm not moving the house. Thought about getting a live mule to help haul stuff up and down. Do people ride well on mules? JK. Besides, the landscaping costs and number of golf carts in the lake would outweigh the cost of the trolley. I'm getting older too, hauling coolers, food, towels, etc. 70 steps is bad enough going down, but going up is hell.
There is a company that advertised what you are looking for in one of the local Lake magazines in the past year or so. It might have been this one based in TN: http://www.americantram.com/index.htm.
I have seen what you are talking about in the mountains. There is one at the family's lodge at Duke's Creek. It has a rails to run on and a line at the top like a ski lift to power it. I'll see if I can find out who makes them. You might google up some companies for the ski areas in CO.
