The alarm on our depth finder goes off every minute or so constantly. It is the kind that allows you to set a deep warning and a shallow warning. I have follwed the directions and reset it several times but nothing seems to work. The readings on it seem to be fairly accurate so I think that part is functioning properly but the alarm is driving us crazy. I really don't care to have the alarm anyway because I constantly watch the gauge when we are in shallow areas. Can the alarm be disconnected and still allow the gauge to work properly?
Maybe it is not the depth finder alarm you are hearing! It maybe a engine warning. After all, 8 replaced his depthfinder and what he heard was the engine alarm. Funny, but true. Sorry 8, had to throw you under the bus.
I'm pretty sure it's the depth finder alarm but then again I'm certainly no expert. It has exactly the same tone and cadence as the depth finder alarm.
If it is an in-dash depth finder(like a small gauge),it will have an external alarm, separate from the head. Trace the wires from the head unit to a small round beeper, under the dash. If that is the one going off, just clip one of the wires.
I have tried to follow the directions to do that and it doesn't work. I think the beeper has just gone bad. Since Bama is off we are going to the lake this weekend so I will see what I can do with it. Thanks.
