I'm surprised that they haven't stopped that. Maybe it needs a little self policing or else AL Power may very well stop it. Sooner or later someone will sue. Who actually owns the "Rock"?

It was Sy Matheson, the son of John Ed Matheson who is the pastor at Frazer UMC in Montgomery. Last I heard he was being transported to ATL to have spinal surgery. Thoughts and prayers need to be with this family. I'm amazed that no more people get hurt there. I know I won't be doing it again after separating my shoulder jumping last year.

I had five kids with us this weekend all in the 17 and 16 range.I wouldn,t let them jump off the big rock, only ckicken rock.I've jumped off to many times to count and its amazing I haven't had something happen to me.Maybe the ATL hospital can take care of his needs.

I'm sory to hear about this Rock accident. We will keep him in our prayers.
Did I also hear that on or around Memorial day weekend that a young boy near stillwaters broke his neck on one of those 'Kite Tubes' that you actually fly in?
Can anybody deny/confirm?
Also, how fast do you need to go on one of those to get airborne?

I don't know of a boy that got hurt. But my friend Erin broke her arm 2 weekends ago down there. She was on one of those and the tube dropped back down and she was still airborne. When she came down she landed on her left arm, had to have surgery to put rods in it. Youdon't have to go very fast, depending on your weight really.

I actually know him. We went to school together and his dad was my minister until I moved. It is my understanding that he fractured his back. The compression is between the L9 and L11 and the reason it can be so serious is that this is the place in the back that supplies all the blood to the spine. He has been transferred to a hospital in Atlanta. He's only 37. Prayers for his family will be much appreciated. He lost his grandfather recently.

You must mean T9 & T11, as the average human only has 5 lumbar vertebra. Agree that the Rock is an accident waitng to happen, and have heard of many there over the years.
