Someone decided Saturday night that they needed my fuel cap off my boat which was parked in the 'Villas on the Harbor' slip near Harbor Point Marina.
Being 'new' to boating, is this something that ocassionally happens? Harbor Point wants $60 to order replacement part. I tried looking on-line but I don't know exactly what I need to order..
Any Forum friends willing to give me advise?????

If I had a boat at a wet slip I would use a locking gas cap for a few reasons.

Not to alarm you but there are some kids that will think putting stuff in your fuel tank is funny. You might check your fuel filter if it's accessible to be safe.

Ditto the locking cap recommendation. I've never really worried too much about this at our cabin, but when I got my boat out of storage this spring I found I was 40 gallons "light".

I also found that if you're going to discover someone just stole $150 from you, the best possible time is when your boat is gliding off the trailer for the first time of the season. The pain goes away pretty quickly.........
