What is all the dirt moving and smoothing at the intersection of Old Dadeville Rd and RT 280?

Big changes coming to that intersection with the new 280 improvements that are coing.  In fact Dadeville Rd, will  no longer intersect with 280.  All traffic will flow on Coley Creek / Coven Abbot intersection.  Dadeville Rd will dead end at the concrete plant.  These oare thinkfs I know from the local paper.  My speculation is that there will be a fuel and equipment depot in that spot during the upcoming improvements to 280.  This is based on nothing more than specualation as I have no inside knowledge.

Very interesting.  Had no idea of the Dadeville Rd.  Will be fun to watch the construction.  Was afraid a storage unit was going in.

I've heard rumors that a new truck stop/fueling station is going in somewere along there.  Don't know if that is what is going on there or not.

ALDOT in all their 'wisdom' is closing the crossover at 280/ Coley Creek rd/ Coven Abbett; i had the whole corner ready to go under contract for a big development (not a truckstop) until we found this out --buyers backed out  cancelled ; ALDOT wouldnt budge even to a traffic light vs closing the crossover; the development would have been a big plus for the area/Alex City/lake

Careful what you ask for.. Someone unknown demanded ALA DOt to solve the Hwy 280 congestion in Birmingham. The result was many millions of dollars up a wild cat's butt for nothing but more traffic problems. They called for blocking turns at certain intersections in favor of forcing a u-turn, adding another light, and adding further congestion. People who live here do anything to avoid areas where "Gubment" has struck...
