We're new to the lake and reviewed the string posted in August concerning TV and Internet.  We're on the Pell City side, and wonder if everyone's still satisfied with Direct TV with Coosa for my Internet/phone?  We need TV, Internet, and phone services, and appreciate your feedback.  Thanks

I had Coosa Cable up until about two months ago and I changed to Direct TV, Direct TV has more channels for less money. I was having some problems with some of the HD channels with Coosa.
Direct TV had a special where they gave you a free HD DVR, Free HD box for another room and free installation. Some of my neighbors say there in some interferance on hard rains with Direct TV but this is only a lake home so I am not there all the time.

Movinfr8 - I'm having Charter replaced with AT&T's U-Verse next Wednesday in Birmingham. Charter cable TV is ok but Internet does not hold a steady signal. I can sit my laptop still and watch the signal meter go up & down & sometimes loose the signal all together. AT&T says their's will not do that so we will see.
What started it was my wife's Iphone quit working so I went in to see what kind of discount I could get if I bundled the cell lines with the home phone,  they gave me a price on home, cell, TV & internet & I save about $50 a month. Their TV line up is identical to Direct TV.

BK
I gave up on Charter about 6 months ago and went with ATT....we wanted Uverse but strange thing....across the street has it and the neighbor above me has it (different street) but I cannot get it.....go figure.......

I am not impressed with the ATT internet.... when charter was working it seemed faster but we had so much trouble out of it i finally gave up on it. ATT is lying when they say they will not have the problems charter had..... I know at least once everytime I am on it I get a message that the router has to be rebooted or checking connection please wait. It resets itself wherre with charter I had to go unplug it and or call customer service. I imagine everyone has the same type problems with consistency its just the customer service that will keep you or run you away. I have not had to use ATT customer service yet but it seems like you have to pay for the use....... not 100% about that but seems like i saw it somewhere. My neighbors swear by uverse and thinks its the greatest thing but I cannot say one way or the other (yet).

By the way Gray Goose...... I enjoy a version(Grey Goose) name regularly........What part of the lake are you on?

As info:  SAMs Club has some sort of special with Direct TV that they say is very good. I have Dish and do not think much of it.  Century Tel internet is worse
Don't follow my example for a good choice on picking services.

I have always heard that direct tv is far superior to dish tv......... We have always had just basic direct tv and even during storms we have had minimal trouble.

I too am on the Pell City side and I have Directv and Coosa Internet.  I would recommend both.  I have AT&T internet in B'ham and hate it.  Looking for U Verse in my area.

I had ATT U-Verse put in last Wednesday & so far it is as advertised. They come in & change out the wall plates & replace the connectors on the ends of your cable. They have a computer that hooks to the cable for them to read the resistance, when they started I had a resistance of 3.? and when they finished it was .02. My laptop keeps a full signal from the wireless modem, Charter's signal was up & down. You get more HD channels than Charter, the same as on Direct TV.
