 PROGRESSIVE AUTO INSURANCE

This is a heads up regarding Progressive Auto Insurance. You know who they are. They’re the ones with the clever television ads featuring the perky brunette actress all dressed in white.

What you might not know is that the Chairman of Progressive is   Peter Lewis , one of the major funders of leftist causes in America .

Between 2001 and 2003, Lewis funneled $15 million to the ACLU, the group most responsible for destroying what’s left of America ’ s Judeo-Christian heritage.

Lewis also gave $12.5 million to   MoveOn.org  and America Coming Together, two key propaganda arms of the socialist left.

His funding for these groups was conditional on matching contributions from George Soros, the America-hating socialist and chief financier of the Obama political machine. Lewis made a fortune as a result of capitalism, but now finances a progressive movement that threatens to destroy the American free enterprise system that is targeting television shows on Fox News.

Peter Lewis is making a fortune off of conservative Americans so that he can help dismantle the very system that made him wealthy. He’s banking on no one finding out who he is.

I have used Progressive for several years and just recently saw this ... and I am working on moving my policy to another company at policy renewal.  More need to do this to send a message that we do not support those that support a socialist agenda and the destruction of america.

The only insurance I have with them is my boats which will be changed at the next renewal.  I have to turn off their commercials because they are so annoying.  And check out the men they cast in these commercials.  Every one of them looks like a member of the castrati (as Rush calls wimpy, girly men with no cojones).

While switching to another agency is laudatory, letting your agent know why is very important.

I actually don't think they use agents.  Its a direct purchase from the company if I recall when I originally signed up.  I agree and plan on letting them know the reason I am not re-upping is because of their CEO's political activities.  They need to know there is a cost for taking sides.........

I use Progressive also only for boating insurance.  I felt my primary insurer did not offer a good water policy.  Anyone have a recommendation for an alternative to Progressive?

You guys remind me of Al Sharpton...boycott the white and asian owned stores.........Let me assist you in eliminating a few companies. GEICO is a Buffet owned company. As we know, Buffet complained that he only pays 17.7% on his 46 million income and supports an increase in the tax rate for the rich. So GEICO is out. The Hartford is the underwriter for the AARP plan and pays AARP a large fee that was used to support the passing of OBAMAcare. So, Hartford is out. Allstate uses a black spokesman on their TV ads so thay must support ACORN. Cross them off the list. Travelers uses an umbrella as their logo and we know real men don't use umbrellas. State Farm's CEO and Chairman Ed Rust has served on the on the Board of the Chicago Public Education Fund and was member of the No Child Left Behind Commission. Not something a wing nut wants to associate with. Another option is Boat US. Their insurance carrier is CNA which is owned by Lowes Corporation. That is not the Lowes Home improvement. Well, the President of CNA Thomas F. Motamed made a political contribution to Dodd for President Committee. Andrew Tisch who is Chairman of Lowes contributed to Schumer, Boxer, Rangel, and Obama. Glad I could be of service to you. By the way, I plan to remain with Progressive for my boat insurance.

I use allstate for my homeowners and am switching auto and boat to them as well.  I actually saved some money moving from this socialist.  We will let fishy keep his insurance with them.

water_watcher - Thanks.  I'll give Allstate a look. Of course I'll have to first discount GoneFishin's assertion that they are supporting ACORN.

Now GF, unlike the poverty pimping Al Sharpton I am not in the streets with a bullhorn extorting money and selling my friends and neighbors out for 30 pieces of silver.  You and anyone else can do whatever you want with Progressive. Heck, I even hope you switch all your insurance over to them.  I just choose not to.  Not calling for a boycott as I agree with you, they are stupid, pointless, counter-productive and usually a cheap stunt to get attention whether on the left or the right.  However, I will make my own buying decisions based on my own criteria.  For example, I don't buy Sam Adams beer because their CEO participated in a tasteless, sacrilegious stunt at St. Patrick's cathedral a number of years ago.  Never told anyone else to not buy their beer, just decline when I am offered one.

By the way, I don't buy insurance from any of the others you listed either but thanks for the heads up in case they come up some day.

Just a word from a victim of Allsnake.  They love you when you pay your premium but good luck getting them to pay a claim.  We had hail damage to our roof in a neighborhood where 60+ homes were damaged in a storm, including the neighbors on either side of my house, and Allsnake denied our claim.  They hired a hack engineer to say that the pock marks in our roof were caused by heat bubbles (even though he couldn't explain the heavily dented roof vents.  Then two months after denying our claim they canceled our insurance because "our roof was old and may result in a claim".

I would not recommend Allsnake after them being our insurance company for almost 20 years with nary a claim.  Go to the website allstateinsurancesucks.com for a litany of bad experiences.  Theirs is the only website I know of slamming an insurance company.  When they denied our claim I spoke to one of my neighbors who had State Farm and they had told him that our neighborhood was in what was considered a "disaster area" from the storm and the adjuster didn't even bat an eye in approving their claim.  The roofer had done 20+ of the homes all around mine and every single one was paid by insurance except mine.  He was completely baffled but ours was the only one covered by Allsnake.

As I told my agent and the adjuster, one of my goals in life was to cost Allsnake $1M in premium.  I am well on my way......  :-)

At that point, you file a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner in Georgia and hire an attorney to simply write a letter that informs the carrier that you are going to file a bad faith suit against them in court in the handling of your claim. Trust me, they will take a second look at your claim and decide do they really want to subject themselves to a court case with possible penalties for bad faith. If they feel secure in their decision, they will fight it as they should. But, if all the other houses surrounding yours suffered damage from the storm, I would think a prudent lawyer for the carrier would encourage them to settle.

It is hard to follow, but auto and homeowners is purchased for one year at time. When a carrier does not renew, they are not renewing you for next year. We assume they provided coverage and paid any covered claims. Thay have no obligation to continue coverage due to good past experience if they feel their is a potential claim waiting to happen. I used to think that my past good experience sort of guaranteed me renewal. I suggest a $1,000 deductible on auto and homeowners to prevent the filling of small claims. Eat the small cliams and don't file a claim unless you are sure it is over the deductible cause it still is a negative mark on your file. It cost money to send out an adjuster and all the paper work involved. So, if you are not going to file small claims then increase your deductible to save money.

I filed a complaint with the Oxendine crowd with zero luck.  I considered going the lawyer route but just couldn't stomach the hassle which I know is exactly what they hope will happen.  I decided to take the route of costing them much more in future revenue than fighting with them.  I am well on my way for what its worth......a pyrrhic victory at best.  Thanks for the advice....
