The Village at Lake Martin has donated 5 acres for a landing pad for Life Flight. I think the dedication will be either the 5th or 6th at 6:30.

That is exciting. I don't know if you are familiar with Med-Jet, but if you do a lot of traveling out of your state and the country, it's a great company. They will fly you up to two times anywhere for medical emergencies per each incident I believe. It's reasonable insurance if you are in poor health as well. I think the policy is around $200 year. My father-in-law has this for Mexico. One friend had a heart attack and they brought him back to the state by jet for US medical treatment.

The dedication is Wed May 7'th at 6:30 pm, rain date next day, same time. The Lifesaver pad will sit on the Village at lake Martins land, just off Old Tree and McCarty. It meets all aviatation specifications and will hopefully be able to save precious minutes when saving a life. The Union Hill Volunteer Fire Department and LifeSaver out of Auburn/Opelika will share the facility as well as any other emergency departments. Come join in at the dedication!

Who gets to use it? Will it be at the lake all the time ready to take someone somewhere or does it just come in when needed in an emergency?

It is for everyones use. The Village is dedicating the use to the Union Volunteer Fire Departemtn and LifeSaver Medical helicopter out of Auburn, however it is for all/any emergency municipalities to use. Additionally, with The Village's location (by water) from Chimney Rock, this could save precious minutes by transporting the injred party by boat to The Village dock, to an awaiting ambulance then up the street to the LifeSaver helicopter. The dedication is this wednesday, 6:30 pm (rain date: next day- same time) This is a gift back to the community.
