Maybe since this is the first year since I have been here that the lake has been full. But we haven't had our annual lakeside fine dining discussion yet this year.
I heard yesterday that Clear Creek had sold and the restaraunt was not open. Any thruth to that? And when I went to Rivers Edge to look at that Seadoo lift (thanks John) there was a place called AJ's but I didn't ask about the days and hours they were open. Anybody tried it?
I have hit the Pell City places and the new Lakewood Grill is pretty decent. It's run by the same folks that own Rumors Deli. And the place that went in where Cafe Avanti was is very nice. Pretty much the same, just new name.
But I will confess. Since we have water this year. I have spent more time playing in the water and less time looking for places to eat. More sandwiches at home ya know?

TWC... clear creek is open we had breakfast there this past saturday morning. it's not cracker barrel but it's breakfast on the water.

This is the story I got about Clear Creek.
After the property was put up for sale late last year the lady that was running the Marina/Store/Resturant HAD to put the property up for sale. A buyer came in and put a contract on the property to buy it. Meanwhile the lady leased the marina/s/r to someone to keep the business open. They buyers have no desire to run the marina/s/r and the lease will option to them when the new owners finish the purchase.
AJ's I heard is an ok sandwich style deli/resturant but I have not been and heard they have strange hours.
I know that Pier 59 is not the most desirable places to go but I recommend late afternoon on the deck and either boiled shrimp or schrimp skewers. We take our kids (before dark) and nothing offensive or out of hand has ever happened (to us). Let me know and I would be glad to meet anyone over there and hang out with you.
Off the water Even Odds was a great place to eat but I heard they changed ownership and we have not been since,,,,,,cant seem to get off the water.
Where else is there to go?

Our RV is at Rivers Edge. AJ's is closed for now but will re-open in about 3 weeks. May have a different name. They will serve steaks and some seafood. No breakfast for now.
Even/Odds is super. Best cheesburger around, but you do have to wait a while as they are cooked fresh when you order.
They have a bar there and a guy that sings, maybe just on weekends. Heard they have karoke Thursday night and a new guy doing karoke outside on Saturday night.
We've enjoyed it every time we've gone.

The Kitchen is not on the water. It's on hiwy 34 about halfway between Cropwell and Stemley bridge. Breakfast and lunch only and it's really good. Especially breakfast.
Where and what is Even Odds?

If you are headed towards the dam on 231 its on the right almost connected to fat mans BBQ.....which is a good place in itself....they are remodeling or something looked like last time I was up that way.

even and odds is a lot of fun. karoke on thursday nights. some on weekends, dancing (well if you want to call it that), food and drinks, its a cool place. check it out

AJ's is closed but another restaurant called Dave's Place is opening in 2 weeks. It's more of a steak, burger and wings place. It will only be open 3 days a week from what I hear. Supposedly breakfast isn't on the menu, but will be served on weekends.
TC - did River's Edge still have the lift? If so, was the price decent?

YEah, sorta.
He told me about it and gave me Daniels number. But he said he had taken it apart because it was in the way of something else and there wasn't anything to see put a pile of metal. He said the guy builds them and sells them for $1200 to $1400. Thats more than I have in the Seadoo. Which, I found out this morning, has a dead cylinder.
But really, thanks for the info. I'm glad I went down there.

Tried Lakewood Grille in front of Wal-mart off exit #158... very limited menu.
Even-Odds is a great place. Great atmosphere. Great Wings. Fresh Seafood... they have a great deal on crab legs.

Lakewood grill is owned by the same people that had legacy steakhouse. try Carter's BBQ at exit 165 in Lincoln.
