First Trip to Martin - Good Party Spots

I am coming down this weekend from Atlanta. Taking a break from Lanier...
Any good bays/coves where people anchor down and have a few drinks? Similar to cocktail cove in Lanier if you've been there.
Thanks!

I lived on Lanier for several years and spent a lot of time in cocktail cove. Having said that, when it's a beautiful summer day, nothing beats Chimney Rock. For the purists on the forum, yes I realize it's Acapulco Rock, but for this discussion I'll keep it simple.
It's located between the damn and The Ridge Marina. I'm sure some folks that have been on Lake Martin longer than I have can give you a better idea as to where it's located.
Keep you fingers crossed for some great weather, and you'll see what I mean. It's a beautiful place. One more thing, keep the rock jumping to the professionals, it's best to be a spectator.
Safe Travels,
Hank76

Most party stuff revolves around the "rock". You'll find Martin bigger and about 35% developed and just a beautiful as Lanier except plenty of nice private places to cove out. And depending on where you live it will take about as much time to get to Martin as Lanier on Friday afternoon :-) I'll bet drystacks are cheaper too.

As others have mentioned, Chimney Rock is probably the closest place to cocktail cove on Lake Martin, but not nearly as crazy, however. Just as a word of caution, because it is the place where a lot of people go to hang out, it also is the area of the lake that tends to draw a lot of scrutiny from the marine patrol. Accordingly, you will want to ensure that you are following all boating laws and that you have all of the required safety equipment (life jackets, 1 throwable, fire extinguisher in working order), registration, license etc. if you head that way.
