I'm gonna try to help you in your effort to find common sense congressmen who are willing to put the nation above party and politics and do the will of the American peolpe.
I referr you to the 13 page letter Chrmn Gowdy has just written to the Ranking Minority Member, the Honorable elijah e Cummings on the dishonorable actions of the dems during the year long oversight work of the Select Committee on Benghazi.
If you have the courage to read it you can google it, you will finally find someone you can look up to who displays integrity and the discipline to forgo the cheap political gotcha games you say you detest.
What say you about this issue?

Sorry buddy, but that dog won't hunt. Gowdy makes some good points in his letter, as did Cumming's in his, but Gowdy's letter is just as biased and self serving of the GOP agenda as Cumming's was toward the democrat's agendy. To begin with no Republican who is trying to write a balanced response to an opposition member starts out by intentionally using the adjective "democrat" in every instance where "democratic" is the correct and preferred term. The democrats know it is done purposely and, correctly or incorrectly, consider it insulting and thay hate it. It is one of the terms with "negative" connotation Newt taught in his classes on what words to use and when to the 1994 GOP freshman class. If you want to win the respect of a ''Democratic'' member of congress you introduce him as a "congressman who is a Democrat'' or a "Democratic Congressman" but never as a "Democrat congressman''. Sure, it is a little thing probably even petty, but it is such little things that have poisoned the atmosphere in DC so why, in the name of good sense and the future of America, keep doing it? Does Gowdy think he is being cute? I'll stick with Ryan, he is not really my cup of tea, but if he and Patti Murray can be friends and work together to get something accomplished, he is somebody l'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Too bad so few of the Jihadist GOP'er aren't as willing. Would you advise your representative to back Ryan?

I won't be reading Archy's reply because I finally had enough of his faux independence and invoked Iggy.
Trey Gowdy comes across as a true patriot, one not consumed by politics but by a thirst for truth. I watched some of the proceedings over the past few months and Cummings' inputs have always been political in nature. For Gowdy to write and publish this letter must mean that Cummings reached the bottom of the political cess pool. I find it refreshing that he thoroughly referenced his comments, letting the facts speak for themselves.

I suspect I have voted for a lot more Republicans (President to School Board) in the last 25 Years than Mr H and most of the other members of this forum have voted for a Democrat. If the candidate is not off the deep end on Issues I vote on qualifications and independance. I will certainly admit that my GOP votes have become a lot less frequent as the party moves further and further right. In our part of the world the Democratic candidates are usually much closer to the center which is where my beliefs reside, regardless of what Mr H or anybody else thinks. In the last GA senate race Michelle Nunn was smack dab in the center where most citizens including many of my Republican friends tend to fall, but they voted for a candidate that they admitted was less in alignment with their views because he had an R after his name. Folks, that is nuts!

Perhaps you should remind me of David Pardue's experience? Neither had experience in elective office...I assume you do not consider that a disqualifying fact. I have no particular concern for either's experience beyond the fact that both had held positions outside government which qualified them to at least be considered capable of sitting as a US senator...my support was based on their policy positions which were night and day with Nunn's being a lot more toward the "day" end of the spectrum.

You can turn off the TV any time of day if you don't like what's on.....likewise you can ignore the off topics section of the forum where this kind of stuff is discussed. Great thing about free will.
