I just bought a new Wave Runner 4 stroke. Does anyone use synthetic oil in their 4 stroke? Of course Yamaha says to use the Yamalube 4 stroke oil, however, the Yamaha oil disappeared from the NMMA FC-W certified oil list for 2006. It was there last year. The Moble1 Extended Life 10w30 is some of the best on the market by the statistics.

Do not use synthetic until after break in.Any good car or motorcycle oil will do.I heard the Yamalube was good.

When it was time to change the break-in oil (10 hours) I didn't have the FC-W certified oil so I used the Moble1 synthetic. One guy told me I can never go back to non-synthetic. I don't know if that is true or not.

The "once syn can't go back" line is old and wrong both for cars and anything else, but why would you ever want to? Price difference for the use per year is nominal, and the protection is superior. Price out the short block replacement/rebuild....

Beware of engineering advice that come from under an oak tree in Tallapoosa County!

Yea//that's my thinking as well. I'm just not sure how important the FC-W certified oil for 4-stroke watercfaft is. They make synthetic with that certification too.
