Just bought property up in Dawsonville. Cove is nice but not drought proof. With the lake down 3 feet right now is there any new talk about raising the full pool level to 1073 to satisfy the masses who draw from the lake?

They changed it from 1072 to 1071 a few years ago so they could say it's full when it isn't.  I can't see them raising full pool any time soon. Can't keep it at 1071.

I don't think so. I was 8 years old and living in Gainesville when the Lanier impoundment began in 1957. For years the Gainesville Daily Times had a box in the upper right of each front page that showed the lake level for the day, the daily change up or down and the level above or below normal full pool of 1071' above mean sea level.

If the level was raised to 1072 or 1073 it would mean that the lake could be raised higher in wet years (such as 2009 when we had a 15" rain surplus) to add 11 to 22 billion gallons to the reservoir capacity. That's a lot of water!
