I have it for internet at my house. Works OK but is expensive. Big difference in upload and download speeds but still a big improvement over dial up. I had the modem go out and sadly the customer assistance is in India or Jakarta or somewhere and it took a couple of calls to get them to send a new modem. They kept trying to say it was some windows upgrade with my computer and I kept telling him it was a Mac but he couldn't quite get it.

If its your only alternative and you really need the speed it is probably worth doing.

If there were no other options this seems to offer a good alternative. But like you said it is expensive. Just curious why you do not do DSL from AT&T (Bell South)? You do not have to have phone service. You just tell them you only want DSL, they may charge you an extra $5 .. they told me that but never did. You can get 3 Mbps DSL for $49 a month vs the same speed with Hughes for $190 a month.

Since I am only at the lake on weekends I went with DSL lite which is 720 Kbps for only $19.95 and they also have 1.5 Mbps for $29.95. The 720 is not bad for quick surfing. But I am spoiled with Comcast in Atlanta which is now up to 12 Mbps for $52.95 a month.

DSL is still not available on Point Cloxson - maybe some Gov'ment funds will be allocated in the spending bill.....

Actually, I would not. I did not think that I would live to see the transition to Socialism in this country, now it seems as if my parents will....
