I guess the responses are an answer. You take your chances with anyone in the yellow pages or on line here in the site. This is a very small town that is not growing and its hard to find a good one. What do you need done? That might get a better response.

I know 2 good ones but they have asked me not to refer them to the LM community. Seems they come and do the job and then the HO wants to negotiate the price down to about $10.00. They charge the fair market price of craftsmen and when they drive 1 hour one way, spend 4 hours ont the job, use their tools & materials, and then drive back 1 more hour. It becomes a matter of $$$. Expect to pay a minimum of $200.00 + in this case (depending on the type of task required and number of men on the crew. Handy men have to eat and pay bills (and possibly run a business) also. The cost of running a business is expensive.

You might call JKP...they have a great crew of craftsmen working around the lake. I know of several projects done in Stillwaters, the Ridge and the Blue Creek area. Prices are reasonable and quoted in advance. Results have been
really well done. I noticed a new listing on the LM.com home page...

True. How can you even crank a truck for less than $100? Trying to get something for nothing usually gets you nothing for something.

What is the best way to fix a leaky tub faucet? I had one plumber tell me that he had to tear out the wall behind the tub. I fell off the turnip truck but not recently....

Turn off the water then replace the washer or the valve, depends on which type of faucet you have. Only way to find out is to turn off the water, remove the cover and unscrew the handle, then you will know if you can replace a washer or have to replace the entire valve assembly, either way a simple fix. Now lakeplumber is going to prove me wrong, just watch, as I ain't no plumber and he is.

Not all plumbing is rocket science. You nailed that one. The only thing I would add is to have a seat wrench also in case the eat needs to be replaced.

Also the installer should have left a large enough opening in the wall (behind the eschuteon) so that all parts can be removed with any demolition.

Steve Barrett 256-234-1452 He does what he says, when he says he will, and for the price he quotes. Not always the cheapest, but always quality work.
