Hmmm… the big models are objecting to the term “plus-sized.”  They say it stigmatizes them. Huh?  They were willing to stigmatize the size 0 models by calling them Barbies… anorexic… usw.  - - Let’s see… if you are 64 inches tall and wearing a size 14 or larger, then you have you have a health problem… risk… associated with your weight. You can get your “physique” relabeled… but, it won’t make your heart risk go away. You want the advertising industry to stroke your self-esteem so that you can justify your lack of self-discipline? Being slender and healthy requires you to be in control of that which does not go into your mouth… and thus, not onto your hips and belly. - - Okay… I get it. So let’s not have any term at all… for any of the models… just numbers 00-4, 4-10, 11-14, 15-20, 21-31, 32-42, 43-53… usw.

The average woman in the U.S. wears a size 10-14, which is considered "plus size" in the modeling industry.  Being in this size group does not imply that a woman is overweight or unhealthy or a "plus size" which is generally considered size 16-18 and above.   In the modeling industry most "normal" sized models wear between a 0 and size 2, and maybe a 4.  Some models have to starve or do other unhealthy things to maintain this.    I think the "plus size" models are just trying to say that in reality, they are not "plus size" at all, but are normal sized.
